The start of your Nagoya trip,
From Nagoya Airport to the City Center
To get from Chubu Centrair International Airport to Nagoya Station
and Sakae Station,
while there's a limousine bus option,
I **always take the airport train**.
If you're heading to **Nagoya Station**,
the Meitetsu Airport Line is usually the most straightforward.
If you're going to **Sakae Station**,
the limousine bus is good if the schedule works out,
but if you're taking the **train**,
it's convenient to transfer to the subway at **Kanayama Station**.

Currently, the basic fare from Chubu Centrair International Airport to **Meitetsu Nagoya Station**
is 980 JPY.
To use the **μ-SKY**,
you need to add a 450 JPY special car ticket,
making the total fare 1,430 JPY.
For the standard cars of the Meitetsu Limited Express, you only pay the basic fare.
The **airport limousine bus** to Sakae and Fushimi costs **2,000 JPY**
and takes approximately 55 minutes.
While the advantage is no transfers,
the intervals between buses are long,
so the timing didn't work out for me.
That's why I
decided to go with the **Meitetsu Airport Line**.
I prepared my
**Meitetsu Airport Line QR ticket** in advance from Korea.
Originally, I had planned to take the
**Meitetsu Limited Express** which doesn't require an extra charge.
However, when I arrived at the airport station,
I realized I had to wait for the next Limited Express,
and the μ-SKY was departing sooner.
So, I ended up buying a **special car ticket on the spot**.
It's not that the **μ-SKY** is always the right answer;
instead, comparing the trains departing soonest at your arrival time
and **choosing that one**
**will actually make your travel time shorter.**
Meitetsu Airport Line Price & QR Ticket Booking
What I prepared in advance was a
one-way QR ticket for the **Meitetsu Airport Line**,
connecting Chubu Centrair International Airport Station and Meitetsu Nagoya Station.
The reservation was confirmed instantly,
and by simply scanning the **QR code displayed on the mobile voucher**
at the dedicated reader,
I didn't need to buy a ticket again at the station.
Plus, while the on-site price is 980 JPY,
the price was slightly cheaper at **~$6**.
When I arrived at the airport,
the ticket purchase lines could be long,
but it was great to be able to board right away
without the hassle of buying or waiting in line!
If you plan to take the Meitetsu Airport train
to Nagoya Station or Sakae Station ,
it's definitely convenient to prepare in advance.
However, please note that this product is
the basic fare ticket
for the section between Chubu Centrair International Airport Station and Nagoya Station .
If you want to take the μ-SKY ,
you need to purchase a separate special car ticket for 450 yen .
If you take the regular cars of the Meitetsu Express,
you can use it without any extra payment.
The μ-SKY and the Meitetsu Airport train
don't have a huge time difference,
so I was debating whether to buy the express ticket.
But since I could store my luggage separately and sit in a reserved seat,
it was definitely more comfortable!
Because a comfortable start to your trip is important!
Where to Catch the Train from Nagoya Chubu Airport Terminal 2
I flew with Jeju Air, so I arrived at
Nagoya Airport Terminal 2 .
The station for the Meitetsu train is located in
the Access Plaza, which is connected to Terminal 1 .
From Terminal 2 to the Access Plaza,
it takes about 10 minutes on foot ,
and there's a moving walkway along the way,
so it wasn't difficult to get there with my luggage.
You can also use the
free terminal shuttle bus , which runs approximately every 15 minutes.
After exiting the airport,
just follow the signs for T1 or Train .
There are even Korean signboards ,
so finding your way is a breeze!
How to Take the Meitetsu Airport Train
Once you arrive at the airport station,
please have your mobile voucher's QR code ready.
After scanning the QR code on the dedicated reader,
you can pass through the ticket gate immediately,
so there's no need to exchange for a physical ticket.
Alternatively, you can also board directly
with a Korean contactless card.
According to official information, the μ-SKY
departs from Platform 1 at Chubu Centrair International Airport Station .
For other express and semi-express trains,
you can check the platform displayed on the electric signboard on the day of travel.
If you're taking the μ-SKY, an additional ticket purchase is essential!
I told the staff near the ticket gate
that I wanted to take the next μ-SKY ,
and then I purchased the special car ticket.
Since all cars on the μ-SKY are special cars,
you can't board with just a basic ticket.
A μ-ticket with a reserved seat
is absolutely necessary.
If you purchase it in advance, it's 450 yen, but
If you board without a ticket and pay on the train,
you'll have to pay an
onboard fare of ~$3.
The thing about flights is that immigration and baggage claim times
aren't always exact, right?
So for airport arrivals,
it's best to prepare just the basic train ticket first,
then purchase a Meitetsu μ-SKY reserved seat,
or just hop straight onto the Meitetsu Airport Line!
My Personal Review of Riding Nagoya's Meitetsu μ-SKY
Since the **Meitetsu μ-SKY** has all reserved seats,
I could sit with my travel companions without being separated.
There was also a separate luggage storage area where I could place my
**28-inch suitcase**.
With **restrooms and Wi-Fi** onboard,
it was definitely more comfortable than regular trains.
If you have large suitcases,
or are traveling with parents or children,
Even if you pay an additional **~$3**,
there's a good reason to choose the Meitetsu μ-SKY.
They do check express tickets,
so be sure to buy yours in advance!
Conversely, if you don't have much luggage
and there's an express train departing soon,
using a regular carriage
to travel for **~$6** is perfectly fine 🩵
How to Get from Nagoya Airport to Nagoya Station
If **Nagoya Station** is your destination,
you can travel directly from Chubu Centrair International Airport Station
to **Meitetsu Nagoya Station**
without any transfers.
The **Meitetsu μ-SKY** takes about 28 to 29 minutes,
the **Limited Express regular carriage** takes about 38 minutes,
and the **Semi-Express** takes around 49 minutes.
Meitetsu Nagoya Station
is connected to **JR Nagoya Station**, but
the station interior is vast and the connecting passages can be quite complex.
If you're transferring to the Shinkansen or JR lines after arriving in Nagoya,
it's a good idea to follow the signs for JR Lines or Shinkansen
as you navigate.
How to Get from Nagoya Airport to Sakae Station
To reach Sakae Station,
there are two convenient ways.
1) Limousine Bus
From the airport to Sakae,
you can travel without any transfers.
You can leave your suitcase in the bus luggage compartment,
making it even more convenient if your accommodation is close to a bus stop.
However, depending on the bus schedule and traffic conditions,
you might have to wait or experience delays in arrival.
So, compare your flight arrival time
with the bus timetable beforehand.
2) Meitetsu Train and Subway
When taking the train,
after getting off at Kanayama Station ,
you'll transfer to the Nagoya Subway Meijo Line
heading towards **Sakae or Ozone**.
From Kanayama Station to Sakae Station,
it's just 4 stops without any transfers,
and the subway fare is currently **~$1**.
One thing to note is that direct transfers from the airport train
to Sakae Station are not possible.
If you want to travel to Sakae,
You just need to get off at Kanayama or Nagoya Station ,
then transfer using a regular ticket or a transportation card.
Nagoya Trip: Essential Tip!
If you're traveling from Nagoya Airport to Nagoya Station or Sakae Station ,
it's convenient to prepare your QR Airport Train ticket in advance.
Once you arrive at the airport, look at the display board
and choosing between the Limited Express and μ-SKY is the most convenient way.
If you choose μ-SKY ,
just know that a special car ticket of ~$3
is added to the basic fare!
If two or more people are traveling together,
you can board by scanning one QR code per person with your phone .
If you're on a family trip to Nagoya with your parents, like me,
or if you're traveling with large luggage,
the μ-SKY, with its reserved seats to Nagoya Station ,
is a comfortable choice!
+ And it's also great to take the fastest train
into the city and start your trip right away!
