With the Japanese Yen consistently dropping lately,
many of you must be planning a shopping trip to Japan, right?
I personally don't like overly crowded places like Tokyo,
so this time I chose Nagoya for my trip haha.
When it came to accommodation, my top priority wasn't just sightseeing,
but finding a place convenient for shopping and exploring local eateries.
A central location in Sakae + a large public bath + an affordable price
These three things were what I loved most about the
Princess Garden Hotel.
If you're someone who'd rather spend your budget on enjoying Hitsumabushi,
shopping, and day trips to nearby Shirakawa-go and Takayama than on a luxurious hotel,
then read on!
1. Why I Recommend This Nagoya Hotel: Its Sakae Location
The Princess Garden Hotel is located in
Sakae 3-chome, Naka Ward, Nagoya City.
It's about a 7-minute walk from Sakae Station Exit 8.
What I found most convenient during my stay was definitely its location!
The central area of Sakae, where Don Quijote, department stores, delicious restaurants, and cafes are
all concentrated, as well as the Hisaya-odori area, were all wonderfully walkable.
Being able to walk straight back to the hotel
after enjoying Sakae until evening, without needing to take the subway,
was far more convenient than I expected.
So, if you plan to take trains frequently from Nagoya Station, staying near Nagoya Station might be better,
but if your trip is mainly focused on shopping and dining,
I highly recommend staying in Sakae.
Also, for Shirakawa-go & Takayama bus tours,
most gather in front of Mirai Tower, making
Sakae the optimal spot for embarking on those suburban bus tours!
2. It's around ~$69 and even has a large public bath!
One of the decisive reasons I chose this hotel was precisely its large public bath.
When traveling in Japan, walking 20,000 steps a day is practically the norm, right? Haha.
After exploring all day, my legs were genuinely exhausted when I got back to the hotel,
but instead of just a quick rinse in the room,
soaking in a spacious, warm bath truly felt like
all my fatigue melted away.
The large public bath is located on the 3rd floor of the hotel and is available
from 3 PM until 10 AM the next day!
The password for the public bath entrance changes every week,
so there's absolutely no chance of outsiders getting in.
During my 3-day stay,
I noticed that apart from 8 PM to 10 PM, it was relatively uncrowded at other times!
Inside, there's even a small sauna,
and the shower area comes with amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
They had everything!
The powder room even has a hairdryer,
and not just cleansing oil and foam cleanser,
but also essence and lotion, so you really don't need to bring any of your own shower essentials.
However, remember to bring towels from your room!
The hotel even provides pajamas,
so there wasn't much I needed to pack separately.
I personally showered in the public bath every morning and evening
(because I'm a huge sauna fan, you see!)
and honestly never even used the bathroom in my room, haha.
3. Princess Garden Hotel Pricing
Based on a Superior Double Room:
Agoda had the lowest price,
making it the most affordable option.
However, hotel prices can vary greatly depending on your stay dates,
so before booking, make sure to check the coupons applicable to your travel dates
and the final payment amount.

While the rooms themselves aren't as flashy as those in a brand-new, cutting-edge hotel,
my itinerary in Nagoya had me out exploring from morning till night.
So for me, a great location and a public bath were far more important than spending a lot on the room itself.
With the money I saved on the hotel, I could enjoy some clothes shopping,
eat hitsumabushi or misokatsu one more time,
or even put it towards a tour of nearby Shirakawa-go and Takayama.
Personally, that made my trip much more satisfying! Haha.
So, I highly recommend this hotel for travelers who:
✔ Are focusing their Nagoya trip on shopping and delicious food.
✔ Want to unwind in a public bath after a long day of walking.
✔ Prioritize location and value for money.
✔ Want to save on accommodation to spend more on food, shopping,
and day trips to nearby areas.
