1. Morning Run & Stroll by Lake Suwa (with Sparkling Water Reflections)

It's a charming yet expansive lake with a circumference of approximately 16km.

On the first morning of my trip,

the very first thing I did was

take a stroll (or run) around Lake Suwa.

The lake's size was just perfect for a light warm-up or a leisurely walk.

Walking quietly along the lakeside early in the morning,

with the shimmering sunlight reflecting on the calm surface,

it was pure healing in itself.

If you love jogging or running,

I highly recommend experiencing this morning air.

There's no better course to start your day feeling refreshed!

2. Suwa Lake Geyser Center (Witness a Unique Spectacle)

The mysterious geyser that erupts periodically

After a pleasant stroll around the lake,

I recommend checking out the 'Suwa Lake Geyser Center'

as a great spot to casually explore.

It's conveniently located near accommodations and the lake,

and it's quite exciting to witness the powerful hot spring geyser

erupting periodically up close.

Even if you don't go inside,

it's a perfect spot to casually drop by

and see before or after checking out.

There's also a supermarket at the geyser center.

3. My Blissful Stay at Healing Ryokan 'Suwakoen' & Open-Air Bath Recommendation

👉Why It's Special

Incredible value, typically around ~$110-~$140,

fantastic lake views, and cozy hot springs

If I had to pick the most satisfying moment

from this Suwa trip,

it would definitely be the time spent

at the accommodation, Suwakoen.

The room view overlooking the calm Lake Suwa was

absolutely superb, but above all, the public bath (Daiyokujo) hot springs and open-air bath (Rotenburo) were truly the highlight.

While not immensely large,

It felt incredibly cozy and private,

allowing us to enjoy the hot springs quietly without any crowds,

and completely melt away our travel fatigue.

With the warm coffee provided in the lobby in the morning,

it was truly a perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee.

If you're considering accommodation in Suwa,

I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

4. A Must-Visit in Nagano! Local Supermarket 'TSURUYA' Shopping

A famous local supermarket found only in Nagano Prefecture.

What better way to end a trip

than with some souvenir shopping?

As a must-visit spot after checkout,

I highly recommend 'TSURUYA' Supermarket.

It's a famous local supermarket exclusive to the Nagano area,

and the moment you step inside, there's so much to see and explore, it'll make your eyes pop!

Shopping Tip

They have a ton of limited-edition products

made from local specialties like apples and peaches, including various jams, fruit juices, and delicious desserts,

that you can only buy here.

There's no better place for gifts for friends or souvenirs,

so be careful not to fill your shopping cart to the brim! Haha.

They're also perfect for snacks.

5. 🚗 A Hidden Gem for Road Trippers: Rest Stop Onsen (Suwako SA)

👉Highlights: Lake Suwa View + Free Foot Bath (Ashiyu)

If you're enjoying a road trip

with a rental car,

be sure to stop by Suwako SA (Service Area).

Even though it's a highway rest stop,

it boasts a fantastic view overlooking Lake Suwa,

and also offers a free foot bath (ashiyu)

and well-equipped hot spring facilities

where you can easily unwind and relieve fatigue.

If you have time,

there's no better hidden spot to warm your tired body after driving

and enjoy the scenery.
