@ Beijing, China
Hello, fellow explorers!
This is Minisbab, your global travel blogger.
If you're dreaming of a trip to Beijing,
the Great Wall is probably the first majestic landmark that comes to mind.
But as I started planning my own adventure,
I discovered there are so many sections to choose from, like Mutianyu and Badaling,
and navigating public transport to get there seemed a bit daunting.
I found myself a bit overwhelmed!
Ultimately, I decided on a day tour that would take me to both the Mutianyu Great Wall and the Summer Palace.
It was the perfect way to see both incredible sights in one day.

Having experienced it myself,
I can confidently say it was incredibly comfortable, with no worries about transportation.
Plus, having a guide share fascinating insights made the experience so much richer.
It was far more satisfying than trying to navigate everything on my own!
Today, I'm thrilled to share with you
all the details about the Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall & Summer Palace Day Tour:

1. Why I Chose This Tour

As I compared various tour options, this one stood out with the most glowing reviews.
It also perfectly combined two of Beijing's most iconic attractions:
the Great Wall and the Summer Palace.
This comprehensive itinerary was a major win,
and that's how I made my decision!

While Badaling is easily accessible,
it tends to be quite crowded with tourists.
Mutianyu, on the other hand, is known for being less busy,
offering a more relaxed experience to walk along the Wall and soak in the breathtaking scenery.
Since I wanted to take my time, capture some great photos, and truly immerse myself,
Mutianyu was the clear choice for me.

Having a Korean-speaking guide by my side meant I could truly delve into the rich history and culture of the Great Wall and Summer Palace, and travel with absolute ease, free from any language worries during our journey in China.
But ultimately, the biggest draw was the incredible efficiency: seeing two of Beijing's most iconic landmarks
so effectively within a single day!
2. Price

The price is ~$33 for children under 6, and ~$66 for those 6 years and older.
At the Great Wall, you can choose between a cable car or a chairlift/toboggan ride.
Initially, I thought the tour price seemed a little high.
But after experiencing it firsthand, with a dedicated Korean-speaking guide, private transport,
and all entrance fees included in a packed 10-hour itinerary,
my satisfaction soared!
Considering the time and hassle of navigating public transportation,
it truly felt like a completely reasonable investment.

3. Tour Itinerary

The tour departs from Exit C of Wangjing Station (Lines 14 & 15).
Depending on the season, it departs at 8:00 AM or 8:30 AM, and the schedule brings you back to Wangjing Station around 5:00 PM.
Here's a look at the tour itinerary:

Arrive back at Wangjing Station & Disperse
The itinerary was so well-planned that travel time didn't feel long at all, and we had plenty of free time at each attraction to explore at our leisure.
4. Mutianyu Great Wall & Summer Palace
Our first destination was the magnificent Mutianyu Great Wall.

Mutianyu is relatively less crowded than Badaling, which made it perfect for slowly soaking in the majestic views of the Great Wall.
Taking the cable car up, we arrived at the Great Wall much faster than expected.

Seeing the endlessly stretching walls and the stunning mountain landscape firsthand, it became instantly clear why it's designated a World Heritage site.
The mountain views as we walked along the wall were truly breathtaking, and it was absolutely the best spot for taking photos.
After lunch, we visited the Summer Palace, Beijing's iconic imperial garden.

The Summer Palace is an imperial garden rebuilt by Empress Dowager Cixi, featuring magnificent architecture centered around Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill.
The scenery, where a vast lake harmonizes with traditional architecture, was more than enough to experience yet another charm of Beijing.
Listening to the guide's explanations made the experience even more meaningful. We weren't just seeing the sights; we were also gaining a deeper understanding of their history.
5. Honest Review

After experiencing it myself, I can say it was much more comfortable and efficient than navigating by public transport.
There was no need to figure out complicated transportation, and the guide handled all the admission procedures, allowing us to simply focus on enjoying the trip.

What was most satisfying was being able to hear the history and hidden stories of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace in Korean. We learned things I surely would have missed if I had explored on my own.
