As promised in my previous post about Gangchon's Munbae Village, today I'm excited to share my review of the absolutely delicious restaurant we discovered after our invigorating hike:

Once you venture deep into Gangchon's Munbae Village, you'll discover a charming cluster of restaurants, almost like something out of a fairy tale! (So cute!)

There are nine establishments operating, and I noticed everyone seemed to have their own favorite spot.

Among them, we headed to

Munbae Village Singane, a long-standing favorite of my fiancé's family – essentially, the Kim family's go-to spot!

Knowing it was a tried-and-true place they'd visited for years, my anticipation was already through the roof. 👏

As soon as we settled in, we ordered a feast:

acorn jelly (dotorimuk), homemade tofu (chondubu), potato pancakes (gamjajeon), and wild vegetable bibimbap (sanchae bibimbap)!

As a kimchi lover, what really caught my eye was the incredible variety of kimchi served!

You know how you can tell a restaurant's skill just by its side dishes?

Well, after tasting their kimchi, it was clear why Singane has been a beloved Munbae Village restaurant

for so long – every single one was absolutely delicious. 🤤

Our potato pancake (gamjajeon) and acorn jelly (dotorimuk) arrived next!‼️

The perfectly golden-brown potato pancake was the epitome of 'crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside' – truly a delight.

The spicy and tangy acorn jelly salad had a wonderfully bouncy texture, and the chamnamul (a type of wild herb) mixed in was especially tasty!

We even ordered an extra serving because it was so good, though the second batch had a bit less of the herbs, making it slightly less flavorful than the first. Haha.

Then came my absolute favorite: the homemade tofu (chondubu)!🤍

It's even more delicious because they make it fresh themselves. The nutty and clean flavor is simply outstanding – I definitely declare this a tofu heaven.👍

I tried it first with soy sauce, then with stir-fried kimchi, but personally, I preferred dipping the tofu in soy sauce. Haha.

Next up was the main event: the wild vegetable bibimbap!

(I'm not sure if the owner forages all the greens themselves, haha!)

Regardless, the fragrant and earthy wild vegetables arrived piled high on a large platter.💚

The accompanying doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was also perfectly balanced, not too overpowering, and just right.

You can really taste the care put into these dishes. It was a truly wholesome and satisfying meal. Hehe.

For the wild vegetable bibimbap, you add rice to your liking, then mix it with gochujang (Korean chili paste) and sesame oil.

It was incredibly delicious, but one minor disappointment was that the bibimbap arrived quite late.🥲

It would have been even better to enjoy it alongside the other dishes, but by the time it came, we were already quite full from waiting. That was a small letdown.

Aside from that, it was a thoroughly satisfying meal!🤩

Enjoying such a delicious spread after our trek made this family outing even more enjoyable!
