To be honest, a 4-day, 3-night trip to Mexico City
doesn't feel like a very long time.
That's because there are just so many amazing places to visit in Mexico City.
The heart of Mexico City, Zócalo Plaza
Even so, most of Mexico City's major attractions
are clustered around Zócalo Plaza.
So, for those visiting this incredible city for the first time,
here is a perfect 4-day, 3-night itinerary to share!
Let's kick off our Mexico City adventure
starting right around lunchtime.
Mexico City Itinerary: Day 1

Monument to the Revolution

First, I highly recommend grabbing a quick lunch
at a local taquería near your accommodation.
After that, head straight to the heart of the city: Zócalo Plaza!

No matter how many times you see it,
the heart of Mexico City, Zócalo Plaza, always takes your breath away.
The beginning and end of any Mexico City trip is always Zócalo.
Since it's the dead center of the city, you'll find
clothing stores and shops in every direction.
There's so much to see and do beyond the plaza itself,
making it the absolute number-one spot
you must visit when you're in Mexico City: Zócalo Plaza.
Plus, if you walk just a short distance from Zócalo,
you'll find the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts)
and the Palacio de Correos de México,
frequently called one of the most beautiful post offices in the world.

After touring these palaces, head over to the Vasconcelos Library,
famous for looking like the library from the movie Interstellar!
The distance between the palaces and the library
is a bit awkward to walk all at once.
If you do decide to walk, it's a great idea to make a pit stop
at Plaza Garibaldi along the way to check it out.

Heading south from the Vasconcelos Library,
you'll come across another iconic landmark of Mexico City:
the Monument to the Revolution.
After catching a gorgeous sunset at the Monument to the Revolution,
make your way back to Zócalo Plaza.
Seeing the plaza light up at night is the perfect way to wrap up your day!
Day and night in Zócalo offer completely different, yet equally magical, vibes.

On Day 2 of our Mexico City trip, we're diving into Mexico's
rich history by visiting the country's most spectacular fortress:
the stunning Chapultepec Castle and its surrounding park!
Since the grounds are incredibly massive,
you'll definitely want to budget plenty of time to explore here.
Also, if you're a history buff fascinated by Aztec or Mayan civilizations,
and you love exploring world-class museums,
I highly recommend visiting the National Museum of Anthropology,
located right on the northern edge of Chapultepec Park.
After the museum, make your way to the Angel of Independence!
This area is relatively safe and secure,
and it's packed with cozy cafes and fantastic restaurants,
making it the perfect spot to stroll around and enjoy a relaxed travel experience.
And to wrap things up, head over to Mexico City's...
One of the trendiest spots in town is definitely Zona Rosa!
You can think of Zona Rosa as the Khao San Road of Bangkok.
Even though it's packed with vibrant clubs and bars,
it's relatively safe, making it an amazing place to let loose and have fun!😎

For Day 3 of your Mexico City adventure,
I highly recommend taking a day trip to the ancient pyramids of
Teotihuacan, located about an hour outside the city!
Teotihuacan is such a monumental
and historically significant site that
if it's your first time visiting Mexico City,
it's an absolute must-see!

Since exploring Teotihuacan can be
quite a workout, I suggest taking a short break
after the tour and then heading over to
the incredibly hip and trendy neighborhood surrounding
Parque México.
It's a fantastic area lined with stylish cafes and restaurants.

Just as the sun begins to set, make your way near Zócalo Square
and head up the Torre Latinoamericana
to catch the breathtaking night views of Mexico City.
Since the Palacio de Bellas Artes is right below,
going up just before sunset lets you capture
truly magical views of the city transitioning into night.

Your schedule for Day 4 will likely depend
on when you're leaving Mexico City.
If you're an art enthusiast, you definitely can't miss the
Frida Kahlo Museum, dedicated to the legendary Mexican painter.
If you'd rather unwind and relax in a beautiful park,
head over to Alameda Central, located right next
to the Palacio de Bellas Artes near Zócalo Square.
Or, if you want to focus on souvenir shopping,
you can easily drop by one of the major Walmarts located throughout the city.

This 4-day, 3-night Mexico City itinerary
packs in almost all the major highlights
in a super efficient, well-planned route.
I highly recommend this layout, especially for first-time visitors!
The distance between the Palace of Fine Arts and the Vasconcelos Library is a bit awkward for walking. If you plan to walk, it's recommended to stop by Plaza Garibaldi, which is located in between.
Zona Rosa has a vibe similar to Khao San Road in Bangkok, with a high concentration of clubs and bars. It is relatively safe, making it a great place to enjoy the nightlife in Mexico City with peace of mind.
Teotihuacan is a pyramid archaeological site located about an hour away from Mexico City. Since the tour requires a fair amount of physical stamina, it's recommended to relax at the trendy Parque Mexico afterward.
It is recommended to go up the Torre Latinoamericana just as the sun begins to set. With the Palace of Fine Arts right in front of the observation deck, you can take in the beautiful night view of Mexico City from dusk onwards.
