If your goal is a luxurious resort stay, then a resort might be perfect. But if you're like me, spending most of your day exploring the city and hopping between islands, you won't be in your hotel room much.

Why I Recommend It

The biggest reason I chose this hotel was definitely its **location**.

Jesselton Mall and Jesselton Point are directly across from the hotel, and Suria Sabah Mall is also just a short walk away.

If you're planning island hopping tours from Jesselton Point, the convenience of not having to travel far first thing in the morning is a huge plus!

Even the famous Gaya Street Sunday Market is only about a 10-minute walk away.

In fact, I deliberately chose this spot because I'd heard that accommodations right next to the Sunday Market could be quite noisy and bustling.

It felt just right – close enough to walk to all the main attractions, but slightly removed from the most chaotic part of the city center. This balance was perfect for me.

As you can see from the photos, the rooms are generally clean, but they don't have that super modern, brand-new hotel vibe.

There's a slight sense of age, so if pristine, cutting-edge room conditions are a top priority, you might find it a little underwhelming.

However, considering you're in the heart of Kota Kinabalu for around **~$41-~$55 a night**, I felt it was a trade-off well worth making.

The lobby was also quite tidy, making for a pleasant first impression.

With the pool lights on and the option to enjoy a cocktail or beer from the poolside bar while taking in the night view, it really set a fantastic vacation mood. It was the perfect way to unwind.

Coming back after a day of exploring and sipping on a mojito or beer was the ideal end to each day.
