Delicious and Beautiful Tube Jams from Meia Duzia
If I had to pick one must-buy souvenir from my trip to Porto, it would undoubtedly be the exquisite tube jams from Meia Duzia.
Affectionately known as 'paint tube jams' because of their unique packaging, this brand truly stands out.
Let me tell you a little more about why these jams are so special.
1. Meia Duzia: A Taste of Portugal

Meia Duzia is a Portuguese food brand, which immediately makes it an ideal souvenir choice, don't you think?
What truly sets this brand apart is its commitment to using ingredients sourced from various regions across Portugal.
The name "meia duzia" translates to "half dozen" in English, signifying six. This name was chosen because their very first product was a set featuring six traditional Portuguese flavors.

📍 meia.dúzia Rua das Flores
R. das Flores 171, 4050-266 Porto, Portugal
You'll find three Meia Duzia stores dotted around Porto. Given that Porto isn't a huge city, you're likely to stumble upon one during your explorations.
I personally made my purchase at the Rua das Flores location, which is tagged above.
Good news for those flying out of Lisbon: there are Meia Duzia stores there too, so you can easily pick up some last-minute gifts before heading home.
2. Taste Before You Buy

While I don't have a picture of the tasting experience, trust me when I say they let you sample practically every flavor. Honestly, almost all of them were so delicious that it was hard to choose!
I'm not usually a big jam person, as I don't prefer overly sweet things, but these were different. They offered a wide variety of unique tastes that weren't just sugar-sweet.
They're fantastic on bread, of course, but if you're like me and enjoy wine, these jams pair wonderfully with cheese.

They offer beautiful gift packaging for sets of three or six, which definitely encourages you to buy in multiples of three.
My husband and I ended up buying gifts for both our parents here.
A 3-pack costs around ~$16, while a 6-pack is about ~$32.

After much deliberation, these were our chosen flavors!
That orange one, the Pumpkin & Orange, was an absolute revelation – a flavor I'd never experienced before and it was incredibly delicious. We made sure to include it in both gift sets for our parents.
You'll notice their jams feature unique combinations like Fig & Orange, Apple & Cinnamon, and Blackberry & Lavender.
Beyond jams, I also picked up an Orange Chocolate and a Chili Honey (which comes in a different, triangular box and doesn't fit the standard packaging). They also offer olive paste, though I didn't buy that one.
Isn't the exterior packaging just gorgeous and so quintessentially Porto?

The elegant packaging makes them perfect for gifts! The box shapes might vary slightly, but the contents are quite similar, with some honey tubes being a tiny bit larger (about 5 grams more).
With a generous shelf life, you can stock up and enjoy them for a long time... though your wallet might have a different opinion, haha!
3. A Must-Buy in Portugal!

Before my trip, I thought Port wine was perhaps the only significant souvenir to bring back from Portugal. My husband and I aren't huge fans of Port wine, so we didn't end up buying any.
But these tube jams! I genuinely believe that out of their many flavors, everyone can find at least one that suits their palate. The beautiful packaging also makes them look more expensive than they are, adding a touch of thoughtfulness to your gift. It's a win-win!
I'd definitely make a point to visit Meia Duzia again if I ever return to Porto.
While the branch I visited was closest to the city center, I recommend marking any Meia Duzia store on Google Maps. If you spot one, pop in, enjoy a tasting, and pick out your favorites.
The staff were incredibly friendly (they even recognized we were Korean, which was a nice touch!), making for a truly pleasant shopping experience.
There are 3 meia duzia shops in Porto. The article's author purchased from the Rua das Flores 171 branch, and there are also shops in Lisbon.
A 3-pack of meia duzia jam is approximately 15 euros, and a 6-pack is 30 euros. You can choose a beautiful gift package when purchasing in units of 3 or 6.
The article particularly recommended the Pumpkin and Orange flavor. In addition, there are unique jam combinations such as Fig and Orange, Apple Cinnamon, and Blackberry and Lavender.
