Dive into the Marukame Udon Thao Dien experience on Udon Day! Get the scoop on discounted Beef Egg Bukkake Udon, crispy tempura, and how to snag a great meal in Ho Chi Minh.

I used to visit Marukame Udon every month, but this year, my first trip was late in August 2026! And it was a solo dining adventure, which was a first for me here.
My partner had a work dinner, so I was trying to figure out what to eat alone when I stumbled upon their 'Udon Day' event. I couldn't believe I'd been coming here for ages and never knew about it!
Apparently, Marukame Udon's 'Udon Day' used to be fixed on the 10th of every month but has since changed to the last Tuesday of each month. Perfect timing for a simple, delicious udon meal.

There are two Marukame Udon locations in Ho Chi Minh City: one in District 2's Thao Dien area and another near Ben Thanh Market in District 1. The Udon Day promotion is available at all branches.

The Udon Day promotion is prominently displayed on a signboard at the entrance:
Plus, check out their new menu item:
Creamy Tom Yum Beef & Seafood Udon
Regular (R) size: ~$5 (115,000 VND)
Large (L) size: ~$5 (135,000 VND)
Combo Offer:
Purchase any udon and get a Tropical Fruit Tea for a discounted price of ~$1 (15,000 VND), originally ~$2 (39,000 VND).

If only there was a Donburi Day! Honestly, I often prefer the rice bowls over udon at Marukame Udon.
On Udon Day, the regular (R) size udon is a flat rate of ~$3 (65,000 VND, approximately ~$3 including 8% VAT if that were the final price in USD). Normally, these range from ~$4-$4 (89,000 - 109,000 VND).
The large (L) size is ~$3 (85,000 VND, approximately ~$3 including 8% VAT if that were the final price in USD). These typically cost ~$4-$5 (99,000 - 129,000 VND).
While prices vary by menu item, considering bowls like the Beef Egg Bukkake Udon or Spicy Teriyaki Chicken Udon, the discount isn't quite half-off, but a solid 30-40% reduction.

I ordered the Beef Egg Bukkake Udon, regular (R) size, for ~$3 (65,000 VND).
As soon as I ordered the Beef Egg Bukkake Udon, they immediately filled a bowl with broth, noodles, and beef.

The system at Marukame Udon is pretty efficient. You enter, place your order at the noodle station where they're freshly boiling noodles, grab a tray, and move along the counter.
(Some dishes that take longer to prepare are brought to your table later.)
As you move, you can pick up various side dishes: kimchi, soy sauce eggs, a wide selection of tempura, salads, and drinks. You pay at the end, making for a quick and customizable meal.

This place is a vegetable tempura heaven (in my humble opinion)! If you're at the tempura station, definitely add some to your tray!

To be honest, the udon noodles aren't super chewy; they're more like a high-quality instant udon from back home. That's why I often gravitate towards the donburi (rice bowls) when I visit Marukame Udon.

Actually, I mostly come for this coriander salad! It’s a mix of fresh coriander, shichimi spice, and soy sauce, which you can also add on top of your udon. It’s a game changer!

I also grabbed a slice of Tonkatsu for ~$2 (38,000 VND).

Since it was Udon Day, the place was packed! There weren't any empty tables, so I ended up taking a four-person table all to myself.

The self-service condiment station is fantastic! It offers coriander, green onions, chili, lime, tempura bits (tenkatsu), soy sauce, chili sauce, shichimi, tempura dipping sauce, and more. They even have ice and disposable cups, so if you buy a canned drink or beer, you can make yourself a nice chilled beverage.

I grabbed some green onions and spicy chili from the service table to top my udon, and it looked even more delicious!

I had already ordered a Tonkatsu slice, but after finishing my udon, I saw fresh vegetable tempura come out. I couldn't resist and grabbed another piece! Honestly, two fried items by myself were a bit much; it would have been perfect with a beer. Cheers to next time!

The interior offers a variety of seating, including traditional tatami-style areas and regular tables. There's also a charming terrace if you prefer to dine outdoors.

Marukame Udon is a spot I frequent, and now that I know about Udon Day on the last Tuesday of every month, I'll definitely be stopping by more often to slurp down some delicious noodles!
Marukame Udon's Udon Day is held on the last Tuesday of every month. On this day, you can enjoy an R-size udon for a flat rate of ~$45, and upgrade to an L-size for an additional ~$14.
Marukame Udon Thao Dien operates from 8 AM to 9:30 PM on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). On weekdays (Monday to Friday), it operates from 10 AM to 9:30 PM.
No, the Udon Day discount does not apply when using delivery apps such as GrabFood or ShopeeFood. This discount is only applicable for dine-in on the last Tuesday of each month.
When you purchase udon, you can get a discount on Tropical Fruit Tea as a combo benefit. The Tropical Fruit Tea, originally ~$27, can be purchased for ~$10.
