Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Travel
Hello, I'm Lisa!
Did you know that Ho Chi Minh City was once a French colony?
That's why many travelers to Ho Chi Minh City make sure to visit a French restaurant!
The place I'm introducing today is a French restaurant that's also perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in a lovely ambiance.
Right in front of Ho Chi Minh City Post Office, with a direct view of Notre Dame Cathedral.
It's Runam Restaurant.
The atmosphere is luxurious,
with an interior featuring structures inspired by the Eiffel Tower in France.
and even early model espresso machines, among other delights.
There was so much to see!
Let's dive right into the review!
Three-line Summary!
✔️ The most luxurious cafe I visited during my trip! It's located right in front of Notre Dame Cathedral.
✔️ A Ho Chi Minh City cafe with an interior inspired by the Eiffel Tower.

A place many travelers visit:
Right in front of the Post Office stands Notre Dame Cathedral!

And right there, in front of it, is Runam Restaurant & Cafe, the place I recently visited.
I actually saved this spot after seeing its beautiful night view while riding the city tour bus, and decided to visit.
And let me tell you, it was a decision I absolutely don't regret!
Seriously, you have to take the city tour bus!
You might just discover hidden gems like I did~~
The outdoor terrace was also incredibly charming, and I imagine it's even more popular on cool evenings.
But stepping inside, I was absolutely blown away!

It was a restaurant with an atmosphere I'd never encountered before on my travels, haha!
Isn't it incredible?

The ambiance is truly exquisite.
On one side, they were selling a variety of merchandise,
The prices for the merchandise were seriously steep.
But don't worry, the drinks and menu items are reasonably priced! 😉

What particularly caught my eye was the ceiling interior.
The French owner explained this to me – he said it was designed to mimic the Eiffel Tower.
Perhaps that's why it felt even more elegant and magnificent.
He also personally explained the limited-edition machine in the store, but I'll link that part in the YouTube video above! 😉

And so, I visited Cafe RuNam once more.
While they have several branches, this one has the most luxurious atmosphere and a wider variety of food.
The prices are a bit on the higher side for Vietnam.
For a Vietnamese filter coffee, it's 130,000 VND.
which is about ~$4.
Besides that, there's Americano,
Egg Coffee,
Durian Coffee,
Truffle Coffee, and other uniquely flavored coffees.
Beyond coffee drinks, they also offer a variety of beverages like cocktails, beer, juices, and smoothies.

Actually, this place also operates as a restaurant, so you can enjoy full meals too!
It's a Ho Chi Minh French restaurant offering a diverse menu including steaks, pho, salads, pasta, and sandwiches.
Cafe Drinks
We had already eaten, so we only ordered drinks.
Let me share what delicious drinks we had!

Vietnamese Filter Coffee 130,000 VND
Approximately ~$4
Tastes like a classic warm Americano.

Madame RuNam 150,000 VND
Approximately ~$5
A slightly sweet condensed milk latte flavor.

Yuzu Cold Brew
185,000 VND
Approximately ~$4
A coffee drink with a refreshing sweet-tart flavor thanks to the yuzu.

Honeycomb Orange Coffee
165,000 VND
Approximately ~$6

This drink was a combination of Vietnamese filter coffee with condensed milk, sweet honey, and refreshing orange.
Surprisingly, coffee pairs wonderfully with honey and orange, and this drink absolutely nailed that combination.
Unique treats are a bonus!

This is what I had when I visited last time:
Wild Berry Coffee
Espresso
and Madam RuNam, in that order.
The espresso was incredibly mild, making it wonderfully smooth to drink,
and the Wild Berry Coffee was surprisingly refreshing and aromatic – I remember enjoying it so much! :)
Wrapping Up
As the world's second-largest coffee producer, I'm sure many of you will be visiting cafes on your Ho Chi Minh trip.
This place, RuNam, had the best atmosphere among all the cafes I visited.
It's located right in front of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office, so it's super accessible. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by! :)
Definitely Planning a Return Visit
