Soo Kafe: Embracing the Vietnamese Vibe
A Tranquil Ambiance Perfect for Work or Relaxation
This time, I'm taking you to a spot that's less of a hidden alleyway gem and more of a convenient escape right next to Ho Chi Minh's iconic Ben Thanh Market. Even if the market isn't on your itinerary, most visitors head to Ha Tam Money Changer nearby, making this area a popular stop for almost every tourist. I actually discovered this cafe quite a while ago but kept putting off my visit until now – and I'm so glad I finally made it!

That's the spot, just peeking out.

As is often the case with buildings in Vietnam, if you're looking for a spot on the second floor or higher, you first need to locate the entrance. And typically, these entrances are tucked away in narrow passages like this one (directly across from Ho Chi Minh's Ben Thanh Market).

Once you ascend, you're greeted by this charming Vietnamese cafe. The ambiance is lovely, and surprisingly, for a spot so close to a major tourist hub like Ben Thanh Market, it's not overly crowded.

Once you've chosen from the menu, your order is brought right to your table.

Step outside, and you'll find the lovely outdoor space we saw earlier. Locals often take photos here, striking poses like resting their chin on their hand while someone snaps a picture from below, looking up.

One wall features a massive bookshelf, and interestingly, you can even spot some Korean books scattered among them.

On my visit to this Ho Chi Minh cafe, I sampled a few different drinks: a refreshing Nitro Cold Brew, a meticulously prepared Hand Drip, and a classic Hot Americano. I didn't visit on separate days; I simply enjoyed my time there so much that I ended up having multiple beverages!
What truly surprised me was how incredibly quiet it was. (If you were to listen to a video, you'd barely hear any noise!) It's genuinely a fantastic spot for digital nomads or anyone needing to get some work done during their Vietnam trip. While there were groups of friends, many patrons were solo, quietly reading or working on their laptops, despite being right next to a bustling tourist attraction.
