Ho Chi Minh City's nightlife scene is legendary, and I've barely scratched the surface of all the incredible bars and pubs waiting to be discovered. As a frequent visitor to Vietnam, particularly HCMC, I often find myself returning to old favorites for a chill vibe. But trust me, there are still plenty of hidden gems I'm eager to share with you. Time to get these posts out and dive into some new adventures!

Finding Your Way There

The adventure starts even before you step inside, and I loved it!

Follow the stairs you see on the right up,

And ascend another flight with this intriguing view,

You'll find this entrance. There's no separate sign, just this, but if you arrive right at opening time, the door might be closed. Don't worry, just push it open and head inside.

The climb up might feel a little spooky, but the entire building has this unique, slightly mysterious concept. In fact, this area (though not this specific building) is a popular spot for locals to take photos, making it a true Ho Chi Minh City highlight.

Snuffbox is conveniently located in District 1, just a short stroll from the riverfront. It's easily accessible from the city center, making it a perfect stop on your Ho Chi Minh City itinerary. I'll be sharing more about this vibrant area in future posts, so stay tuned!

The Overall Vibe

The space is divided into two levels, a first and second floor. These photos make it look brighter than it actually is; in person, the ambiance is even moodier and more intimate.

Talk about a showstopper! Imagine opening a 'treasure box' to reveal your cocktail, dramatically veiled in a plume of fragrant smoke. It's an experience that truly sets the mood!

I absolutely loved it! I arrived right at opening, eager to capture some photos, and already two solo travelers had claimed the coveted window seats, seemingly waiting for their friends. It's clear those spots are prime real estate for soaking in the atmosphere!

The smoky aroma from the cocktail lingers, adding a unique, almost theatrical touch to each sip. It's a subtle detail that really elevates the experience.

As the sun dips below the horizon, Snuffbox truly comes alive. While the early evening light still offers a lovely vibe, it's after dark that the bar's full, captivating atmosphere truly unfurls, making it a standout among Ho Chi Minh City's must-visit spots.

Funnily enough, the two solo travelers who arrived around the same time as me were still waiting for their friends an hour later! It made me wonder if arriving so early, especially on a weekday, was truly necessary for a bar where the crowd typically rolls in much later. Indeed, about 50 minutes after opening, it was still just me and those two patient souls. I figured things would pick up around 9:00 PM.

Then, to my surprise, both of them suddenly left! It seemed their plans fell through – a bit comical that two separate parties had their plans canceled simultaneously! Now, I had the place to myself. I decided to wrap up my visit soon, but not before giving you a little sneak peek of what else Snuffbox has to offer, just in case my 'part two' takes a while to materialize!

On a different visit, I snagged one of those coveted window seats and was treated to an incredible surprise: live music! It truly elevated the experience even further. I've got a backlog of amazing bars to share, and Snuffbox definitely deserves another dedicated post soon – hopefully, it won't be too long!
