The Magellan Sutera Resort
Club Sea View King Room Stay Review
With a woody interior that exudes a captivating resort vibe,
and a premium room where you can witness one of the world's top three red sunsets right from your terrace!
Booking and Choice - Pacific vs. Magellan, and the Club Room
When choosing accommodation in Kota Kinabalu, The Magellan Sutera Resort
is broadly divided into the modern hotel-style Pacific Sutera and
the woody, resort-like Magellan Sutera.
Since I was already in a Southeast Asian resort, I chose
Magellan Sutera to fully immerse myself in its unique ambiance.
The biggest reason I opted for the
Club Sea View King room instead of a standard Deluxe room
was precisely because of
the exclusive Club Lounge benefits!
The advantage of avoiding the chaotic check-in at the main lobby,
enjoying refreshments leisurely in the private lounge,
and watching the spectacular sunset was the decisive factor.

The Magellan Sutera Resort - Hotel Check-in

Arriving at The Magellan Sutera Resort by Grab.
The entire resort is incredibly grand and expansive, so the lobby is equally impressive.

The Malaysian-inspired interior and
palm trees scattered throughout truly give off a vibrant resort vibe.

Check-in was seamless right at the lobby.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming!

The Magellan Sutera Resort - Club Sea View King Room

The Magellan Sutera boasted remarkably spacious hallways.

As soon as I opened the door to the Club Sea View King Room,
the tropical, resort-style wooden interior immediately caught my eye.
The room size was truly, incredibly generous,
making me exclaim 'Wow!' as I stepped inside!
The room was much more spacious than typical resorts, allowing me to comfortably open
2-3 suitcases without any inconvenience to movement whatsoever!

One side featured a floor-to-ceiling window with a stunning ocean view,
making it perfect for sitting on the sofas on either side, gazing at the water, and unwinding. 😎
During the day, the emerald sea
And at sunset, spectacular views of the evening glow, right from your room!
(Absolutely perfect!)

The room connected by the folding door was also incredibly spacious.
Above the king bed, a refreshing ceiling fan – pure bliss! 👍
Befitting a king room, the bed was wonderfully large and plush.
Despite the humid Southeast Asian weather, the bedding was
perfectly dry and crisp, and the air conditioning was well-regulated,
allowing for a truly comfortable night's sleep!

The closet was stocked with bathrobes and disposable slippers.

To the left of the bed, you'll find a vanity and the main bathroom.
Next to the closet, a full-length mirror was perfect for
checking my outfit before heading out.

The in-room bathroom is wonderfully spacious and features a bathtub.
The large bathtub and shower booth are separate,
and with a window that opens towards the bedroom, it creates a great sense of openness.
(Don't worry, adjustable blinds allow for complete privacy!)

There's an additional restroom near the entrance,
making it super convenient for two people to use the facilities! ⭐
Basic amenities and towels are also generously provided!
(You really don't need to bring a thing!)
The shampoo and conditioner aren't bulk-sized either;
they come in hygienically portioned smaller bottles, which was a nice touch.

The views of the resort and the sea from the room are
truly the epitome of a perfect getaway! 🥰

The Magellan Sutera Resort - Pools

After checking in, I immediately changed into my swimsuit
and enjoyed a delightful swim in Sutera Resort's expansive pool!
The pool is incredibly long and wide, perfect for some serious swimming! ✌️
At night, the lights come on, making it wonderful for evening strolls too.

I even enjoyed a morning swim before breakfast! 😎
With beautiful skies and crystal-clear water, the pool was absolutely delightful.
Beyond the impressive waterfall pool located within The Magellan Sutera itself,
You also have access to The Pacific Sutera pool
and the Marina Club pool, allowing for interconnected use of all facilities!
From an Olympic-sized swimming pool to fun slide pools perfect for kids,
it truly offers the best environment for water activities.
The Magellan Sutera Resort - Hotel Restaurants (Sunset Dining Hotspot)

One of the absolute highlights of The Magellan Sutera Resort in Kota Kinabalu
is its breathtaking sunset views! ⭐⭐⭐

When you think of Kota Kinabalu,
its breathtaking sunsets are, without a doubt, the most famous thing!
Without even having to seek out a specific sunset bar or beach in the city,
just sitting on our room balcony or strolling around at dusk,
the views were truly magnificent.

As the sky painted itself in vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple,
with those colors reflecting perfectly on the sea, it was more than enough to capture some truly 'insta-worthy' shots!
It's a view that truly makes you understand why it's renowned as one of the world's top three sunsets! 👏👏👏

With a restaurant right within the resort,
you can comfortably enjoy dinner while soaking in those incredible sunset views!
Quick Tip: To snag a table right by the ocean,
make sure to visit early!
We grabbed an open table and ordered our meal via QR code.
(Starting with some easy skewers, of course!)

Next up, we ordered something that looked like a delicious whole roasted chicken,
along with some egg porridge, and happily dug in!
The Magellan Sutera Resort - Morning

Waking up in the morning was such a dream,
I just had to snap a photo from the bed!
Raising the blinds revealed Kota Kinabalu's ocean,
and it was simply stunning.

The view was just as beautiful the next day with perfect weather!

Strolling around the resort grounds was incredibly lovely, too! 😄
The Magellan Sutera Resort - Breakfast Delights

Let's talk about breakfast at The Magellan Sutera Resort!
Inside, you'll find a wide array of dishes, and outside, they've got live cooking stations where chefs prepare dishes over an open flame
(like custom egg orders!).

There were so many options, I couldn't possibly capture them all in photos!
Rest assured, they have everything you could possibly want, so no worries there!

As it was morning, I didn't want anything too heavy,
so I kept it simple with an egg dish, some cabbage, rice noodles,
and a naan-like bread to dip in curry.
You can never go wrong with a classic egg dish, right? 😉
