While **Madrid**, the capital of Spain, boasts many attractions within the city,
venturing out to its surroundings reveals numerous charming small towns that
perfectly preserve the atmosphere of medieval Europe.
The classic, elegant ambiance you feel in European cities is wonderful,
but **Segovia and Toledo**, which I'll introduce today,
**are truly unique places.**
However, for us travelers with tight schedules,
visiting these two places separately can be quite challenging.
Today, I'll share a review of a tour that lets you experience Spain's past,
**efficiently visiting Segovia and Toledo all in one day!**
📌 First, let me tell you **why I chose the Segovia and Toledo tour.**
One of my goals for my European trip was to
**'experience as much as possible, even with a short itinerary.'**
With just a short two-night stay in Madrid,
**visiting two neighboring cities in a single day is almost impossible**
**if you're traveling independently**, right?
**👉🏻 That's why a tour was a realistic option for me.**
Also, since the city center has many modern buildings,
I really wanted to see some medieval European charm.
And Segovia and Toledo were the perfect places for that!
📍 The tour cost, at around ~$104, might seem a bit pricey, but
**considering my short itinerary and desire for diverse experiences,**
**it actually felt quite reasonable.**

Next, I'll give you a brief review of **each stop on the**
**Segovia & Toledo tour.**
📍 First, our initial stop in Segovia was a **photo spot with the Alcázar as our backdrop.**
It's said to be one of the inspirations for Cinderella's castle, and I managed to capture some truly beautiful photos!
(Our guide was seriously dedicated to photography!)
📍 Next, we ventured directly into the **Alcázar Palace.**
Apparently, 'Alcázar' is a **name given during the past Islamic rule**
that is still used today.
That's why most medieval buildings in Spain with 'Al' at the beginning are said to show Islamic influence.
From its exterior, the Alcázar clearly bore the marks of time, and inside,
the **medieval knight figures and Islamic-style patterns on the walls** were particularly striking.
Inside the Alcázar, there was also a wonderful
backlit spot where you could take great photos.
After snapping some pictures here, we moved on to our next destination.
📍 Next up, we got to see one of Segovia's true highlights:
the **Aqueduct**!
The Aqueduct literally means "a bridge where water flows,"
and it's said to have been actively used since the 1st century, remaining almost perfectly
preserved to this day.
I was genuinely surprised by its massive scale, far grander than I'd imagined,
and it made me wonder how on earth they built something like this in the past.
After admiring the Aqueduct, we had **lunch right in front of it at a restaurant, enjoying
Segovia's traditional dish, Cochinillo Asado** (roast suckling pig).
It's a baby pig dish, and while it had a slight "meaty" aroma,
the meat itself was incredibly tender, making it quite enjoyable!
After finishing up our Segovia tour,
**we then moved on to Toledo.**
Our guide told us that Toledo is one of the safest
cities in Spain.
As we rode an escalator roughly four stories high to get up there,
I thought to myself, "Ah, it's so high up, that's why it feels safe!"
📍 Our first stop in Toledo was the **Toledo Cathedral**, which had different
architectural styles on its left and right sides.
I learned that this cathedral was actually built as a **Catholic church
on top of an Islamic mosque**.
There were hardly any people in the city apart from tourists,
yet the cathedral itself was quite grand in scale.
The most impressive structure in this cathedral was the
**ceiling designed to allow light into the chapel.**
I heard it's a special design, calculated so that sunlight
shines directly onto the statue of Jesus during worship times.
Our guide showed us pictures of it,
and it was truly amazingly fascinating.
After our cathedral visit, we walked through the Jewish Quarter and even visited a
**cafe selling Marzipan**.
The marzipan tasted like a sugar cookie and wasn't particularly impactful,
but I was really happy that the cafe sold refreshing
iced Americanos!
📍 The final stop on our tour was a **viewpoint where you could
take in Toledo's entire panorama**.
The sight of this medieval European city blending beautifully
with nature was absolutely stunning.
And get this – I found out that this is actually a famous spot where **actress Lee Bo-young and actor Ji Sung**
**took their wedding photos**!
So, since we were there, we made sure to capture plenty of our own memories with photos too!
After completing all the planned activities for our Segovia and Toledo tour,
we arrived back in the city center around 8:30 PM.
It was a long 12-hour tour, so my body was a bit tired, but being able to fully experience
the medieval European cities I'd longed to see,
combined with our enthusiastic guide's energy,
**it was a day that truly enriched my spirit.**
