Macau 3-Day Itinerary 2026: Parisian Hotel & Old Town

In early March 2026, I took a quick 3-day, 2-night trip to Macau. This time, instead of chasing casinos or rushing through a packed sightseeing schedule, I decided to focus entirely on a relaxing staycation.

I checked into The Parisian Macao, which allowed me to unwind completely while still checking out a few of Macau's most iconic historic spots.

The Parisian Macao is located right in the heart of the Cotai Strip's massive resort district.

After checking in and dropping off my bags, I headed straight down to the pool.

While the hotel only has one main pool area (so it's not overwhelmingly large), the best part is how seamlessly connected it is to neighboring resorts.

The Parisian is linked via indoor walkways to sister properties like The Venetian and The Londoner. This means you can easily wander through these spectacular resorts without ever having to step outside into the humid weather.

Even better, these resorts run free shuttle buses to the historic Macau Peninsula, making it incredibly easy and cost-effective to explore the city center without worrying about transport.

I spent my first day fully recharging by the pool. Usually, I'm the type of traveler who runs around trying to see everything, but lounging on a sunbed and watching the hours slip away was exactly what I needed.

It actually ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

By the time evening rolled around and the city lit up, it finally hit me that I was in Macau.

The highlight of the pool area is that whenever you look up, you get a stunning view of the hotel's half-scale Eiffel Tower replica. You get a taste of Paris right here in Asia!

The vibe changes beautifully from afternoon sun to sunset, and finally to the dazzling nighttime light show. It's a view you simply can't tire of.

On the second day, I headed into old Macau to explore Senado Square.

With its wave-patterned mosaic tiled floors and pastel-colored European-style buildings, this area has a completely different charm compared to the glitzy casino resorts of Cotai.

Right near the square is Wong Chi Kei (黃枝記), a legendary local spot famous for its wonton noodles.

I stopped in for a bowl of their signature shrimp wonton noodles. The springy, thin noodles paired with plump, snappy shrimp wontons in a clean, savory broth made for the perfect comforting lunch after a morning of walking.

I also ordered the deep-fried wontons, which were incredibly crispy, golden, and satisfyingly savory.

Continuing up the path, the striking yellow facade of St. Dominic’s Church came into view.

Its cream-colored walls and bright green shutters are absolutely beautiful. Inside, the high white-domed ceiling and ornate gold altar are breathtaking. It's a peaceful spot to pause and appreciate the architecture.

A short walk further brought me to the iconic Ruins of St. Paul's. Knowing that only the stone facade remains after a devastating fire makes looking at it even more fascinating—seeing the empty blue sky right through the intricate carvings of the stone window frames is a surreal experience.

The ruins are open 24/7 and completely free to visit.

Perched on the highest point of the Macau Peninsula, Guia Lighthouse offers spectacular panoramic views starting from the walk up.

While the inside of the lighthouse itself isn't open to the public, you can step inside the adjacent Guia Chapel.

The walls inside are adorned with unique frescoes that blend Western and Chinese motifs—a perfect representation of Macau's unique cultural fusion. (Note: photography is strictly prohibited inside the chapel, so I couldn't take any pictures).

The fortress grounds are free to explore, and the viewing deck offers a sweeping view of the Macau skyline and the sea.

According to the Macau Government Tourism Office, the fortress is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (last entry at 5:30 PM), while the chapel is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Make sure not to head up too late in the afternoon!

I also made a quick stop at Rua do Cunha in Taipa Village.

The narrow, bustling streets are packed with Macanese restaurants and traditional bakeries, making it incredibly fun to wander.

With its ancient banyan trees, pastel-colored buildings, and green-trimmed windows, it has a wonderfully cozy, nostalgic charm that feels distinct from Senado Square.

While the original Lord Stow’s Bakery in Coloane is the most famous, I opted for their convenient branch inside The Londoner Macao on the Cotai Strip.

The egg tarts here are phenomenal—crispy, flaky pastry shells filled with rich, warm, caramelized custard. Eating them fresh out of the oven is an absolute dream!

The price was ~$1.60 USD (13 MOP) for a single egg tart, and ~$5.75 USD (46 MOP) for a box of four. The bakery also sells a variety of other treats, including cookies and chocolate pies.

If you're planning a staycation-focused trip to Macau, spending your first day relaxing at the resort and your second day exploring the city is the perfect, stress-free balance.

Since Senado Square, the Ruins of St. Paul's, and Guia Lighthouse are relatively close on the Macau Peninsula, you can easily group them together into a single day's walking route.

Also, you don't need to trek all the way to Coloane for Lord Stow's legendary egg tarts—the Cotai resort locations are just as delicious and save you a ton of travel time!

Lastly, if you plan on using the hotel pools, don't forget to pack your favorite swimwear.

Slowing down and prioritizing relaxation over a packed sightseeing checklist made this trip so much more fulfilling. If I return to Macau, I'll definitely choose another amazing resort and enjoy another laid-back getaway!
