L'Obelisque Maison De Luxe Review 2026: Rome Hotel Near Trevi Fountain

When planning a trip to Rome, everyone says to stay near the Trevi Fountain. I searched high and low, but all the decent hotels seemed to come with a hefty price tag.

Then, I stumbled upon a gem that was close to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, offered great comfort, and only cost around ~$146 per night. Since there weren't any English reviews, I decided to share my experience!

Location

First off, the location is absolutely fantastic. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and an 8-minute stroll to the Trevi Fountain. Plus, Termini Station is only a 12-minute subway ride away.

Thanks to this prime spot, I was able to visit the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain as many times as I wanted during my stay in Rome.

Classic Double Room

The room was a decent size, with just enough space to comfortably open two large suitcases, and it was impeccably clean.

The bed felt like two super singles pushed together. It was perfectly comfortable, and the bedding was fresh and pleasant.

The air conditioning, whether truly set to 50°F or not, kept the room incredibly cool, which was a lifesaver on warmer days. There was also a small TV.

Although the table was a bit small, it came with a plush chair, an electric kettle, coffee, snacks, and cups.

In the area leading to the bathroom, you'll find robes, a hanger, a mini-fridge, and a safe. As for amenities, there was only shower gel, a shower cap, and a shampoo/hand wash combo.

I usually pack my own body care products like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so this wasn't a major issue for me. (Seriously, European shampoos often leave my hair feeling stiff!)

The bathroom was well-equipped with a sink, toilet, a European bidet, and a shower. The water pressure was good, and everything was clean.

I personally booked two nights for around ~$292. Prices can vary significantly by platform and season, so it’s always best to compare them yourself.

Check-in

One unique thing about this place is that the check-in counter staff leaves by 4:00 PM. (Quite the work-life balance! It’s likely because it operates more like a guesthouse than a traditional hotel.)

After 4:00 PM, you'll need to do a self-check-in. It’s not complicated: you just enter a code received via WhatsApp to open the main door, then retrieve your room key from a key box.

There are only six rooms, all located on the second floor. So, while there's no elevator, it's only a short climb up the stairs, which was fine.

The next morning, I completed the official check-in by showing my passport. The staff was typically European – efficient and polite, without being overly effusive or unfriendly.

Luggage storage is available after check-out, but you need to pick it up before 4:00 PM.

There’s even a small lounge area. Given its fantastic location and price, I’d definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Rome.

It’s hard to find a place this well-located for around ~$146 a night! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great value stay near the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
