La Mi Venta
If you are looking for an unforgettable dinner experience in Madrid, let me introduce you to
La Mi Venta
This place exceeded all my expectations, and I cannot recommend it enough. Here is my detailed, honest review!
1. A Culinary Gem Near the Royal Palace of Madrid
Hours of Operation | 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM |
Closed | Open Daily |
Reservations | Highly Recommended |
For an atmospheric and delicious dinner in Madrid, La Mi Venta is the place to be.
Boasting an impressive 4.7-star rating on Google with over 7,000 reviews, its reputation among locals and travelers alike is well-deserved.
Location-wise, it is just a short walk from the Royal Palace, making it incredibly convenient to find.
I highly recommend catching the sunset at the Royal Palace first, and then heading over here for dinner. The timing works out perfectly.

The sunset view in front of the Royal Palace was absolutely breathtaking.
The sky turned into a canvas of warm colors, perfectly illuminating the Almudena Cathedral as the evening lights turned on.
I ended up losing track of time just taking in the views before heading to the restaurant.
Make sure to check the local sunset times when planning, and give yourself plenty of buffer time before your dinner reservation.

The entrance is charming and cozy.
Even though I didn't have a reservation, I managed to get a table, but the place filled up almost instantly. Booking ahead is definitely the smart move.
2. Looking for the Best Paella and Tapas in Madrid?

Don't let the narrow storefront fool you—the interior stretches back surprisingly deep.
The ground floor features a small seating area and an open steak grill that looks absolutely spectacular.
While I came specifically craving paella, seeing those thick cuts of steak on the grill made me realize this place is a paradise for meat lovers too!
I am already planning my next trip to Madrid just to try one of their signature grilled steaks.

The staff warmly guided us downstairs to the lower level.
The basement dining area is stunning, featuring beautiful red brick archways that give it an intimate, wine-cellar vibe.
Because of its stellar reputation, the dining room was buzzing with energy and full of happy diners.

We started by ordering a glass of the house wine.
It was incredibly smooth—I honestly regret not buying a bottle to take home.
Complimentary bread and olive oil are served to start your meal.
Note that there is a standard cover charge for bread per person (around $2 per person during my visit).
They serve it with Oro Bailen, a highly acclaimed Spanish extra virgin olive oil. If you are looking for a souvenir to bring home from Spain, this brand is an excellent choice.

Jamon Iberico de Bellota & Paella Marinera (Seafood Paella)
Our main courses arrived: a plate of melt-in-your-mouth Jamon Iberico with beautiful fat marbling, followed by a gorgeous pan of seafood paella.
Iberico Bellota-grade Jamon is the highest quality you can get. While it is a bit of a splurge even in Spain, it is absolutely worth ordering whenever you see it on a menu. It is pure culinary bliss.
As for the seafood paella, while coastal cities like Barcelona are more famous for it, the version served here was incredibly flavorful and satisfying.

Our server went above and beyond to make our night special.
He insisted on holding up the heavy paella pan so we could get the perfect photo, and even offered to take a picture of us without us having to ask. The hospitality here is top-notch.

After you take your photos, the server expertly portions out the paella, beautifully arranging the fresh seafood on top of individual plates for easy dining.

To wrap up the meal, they treated us to a complimentary house-made digestif called Crema de Orujo.
It has a wonderfully creamy, sweet flavor profile, very similar to Baileys Irish Cream. A perfect sweet finish!
Our total bill for two glasses of wine, sparkling water, Jamon Bellota, and a two-person seafood paella came out to just over $100 USD.
3. Unwinding in a Beautiful European Atmosphere
La Mi Venta, Madrid

They also have a lovely outdoor patio with plenty of tables.
European dining culture truly embraces al fresco dining, regardless of the season. Even during cooler spring evenings, the patio was packed.
They have outdoor space heaters running to keep everyone warm and cozy.
If the weather is pleasant, sitting outside is highly recommended to soak in those classic Madrid street vibes!

While it wasn't a budget-friendly meal, the quality of the food and the exceptional service made every penny worth it.
We ordered premium items, and given the restaurant's prime location and upscale yet welcoming vibe, we found the pricing to be incredibly reasonable.
With fluctuating exchange rates, travel dining can sometimes feel pricey, but this was a meal where we felt fully satisfied with the value.
If you are looking to treat yourself to an amazing dinner near the Royal Palace, I highly recommend making a reservation at La Mi Venta!

Buen Viaje!

La Mi Venta is open daily from 13:00 to 16:30 and 19:00 to 23:00 with no closing days. It is so popular that it has over 7,000 Google reviews, so making a reservation before visiting is highly recommended.
The appetizer bread is not free; it costs 1.8 euros per person based on the time of the visit. The olive oil served with the bread is from Oro Bailen, a famous brand in Spain.
An order of one plate of Jamón Bellota, two servings of paella, two glasses of wine, and sparkling water will cost a little over 90 euros. It is pricier than a casual restaurant, but considering the friendly service of the staff, the price is reasonable.
After the meal, the restaurant serves homemade crema de orujo as a digestif. It features a sweet taste similar to Baileys liqueur.
