ⓒ Written & Photographed by Ddakkugi 2026
Hi there! I'm Ddakkugi.
Today, I'm here to share
the complete 3-day, 2-night Kyoto itinerary and budget
for the trip I took with my mom.

I loved my previous trip to Kyoto with my husband so much
that I decided to visit again, this time with my mom!
Since we didn't have much time, we skipped Osaka entirely
and focused solely on Kyoto.
This trip was a mother-daughter getaway
for two!
Over the 3 days, we spent about ~$896 (excluding shopping),
and we walked a busy 25,000 steps a day,
fully soaking in Kyoto's peaceful, historic vibe.
It was a perfect, healing trip packed with incredible food.

Since I was traveling with my mom,
I avoided flights that were too early in the morning or late at night.
To save her energy,
I booked a perfect 9:10 AM departure.
Kyoto is always bustling with travelers year-round.
Flight prices can skyrocket quickly, especially during peak seasons or weekends.
So, once you nail down your travel dates with your mom,
I highly recommend securing your flights first!

🔴 Accommodation: ~$256 for 2 Nights
✔️ Yugen Kyoto Shijo (YUGEN KYOTO SHIJO) - 1 Night
✔️ Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo (Onyado Nono) - 1 Night
For our accommodations in Kyoto,
I wanted to balance a perfect location with ultimate relaxation for my mom.
So, I paired a trendy boutique stay right in downtown Kyoto
with Onyado Nono,
a natural hot spring ryokan-style hotel near Kyoto Station
that I loved so much on my last trip that I just had to return.

Our first-night stay at Yugen Kyoto Shijo
was not only within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple,
but also close to the main street of Kawaramachi.
Its location was absolutely perfect for strolls through the city center,
letting us fully experience
Kyoto's historic charm.
The surrounding alleyways were wide, upscale,
and dotted with beautiful, cozy cafes and restaurants.
The clean, modern interior of our room made the stay even more wonderful.
On our second day, we moved to the Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo.
This place has a wonderfully clean and well-maintained hot spring bath,
making it the perfect spot to melt away the fatigue
of walking over 10,000 steps during a long day of exploring.

Even better, they offer
free ice cream after your bath
and a hot bowl of Yonaki Soba (ramen) as a late-night snack!
It really elevates the whole experience.

🔴Food Budget: ~$179 / for 2 people
✔️ Lunch - A clean, melt-in-your-mouth Sukiyaki spot
✔️ Dinner - Muro Izakaya, packed with local Kyoto vibes
✔️ Specialty - Standing sushi at Otachidokoro (Tachigui Sushi)
✔️ Treats - Kyoto matcha cafes and convenience store snacks along the way

My mom and I absolutely love food adventures
and exploring local culinary scenes.
During this Kyoto getaway,
we indulged in authentic, beautifully prepared Japanese dishes for every single meal.
The multi-course Sukiyaki set was fantastic—
it was reasonably priced and let us experience a full, traditional course.
[🔗Budget-Friendly Sukiyaki Review]
In the evening, we headed to Muro Izakaya,
a cozy spot radiating authentic local vibes.
Over deep chats with my mom
and a glass of ice-cold draft beer,
we wrapped up our wonderful day in the best way possible.

The space is a bit intimate and cozy,
so I'd highly recommend visiting this spot with friends rather than your mom.. haha
🔗 Review of muro: A Local Izakaya with No Booking Fees
One day, for a unique experience,
we dropped by Otachidokoro, a standing sushi bar,
to enjoy some fresh, seasonal sushi.
My mom had never experienced this kind of local standing dining culture before,
and she found it so refreshing and incredibly fun!

Otachidokoro Standing Sushi Bar
turned out to be our absolute favorite dining experience of the entire trip.

and quiet wooden architecture blending together seamlessly,
the picture-perfect Eikando Temple is a literal work of art.
