I recently embarked on a 4-night, 6-day adventure to Ho Chi Minh City.
Today, I'm thrilled to share my experience on the Mekong Delta day tour.
I booked it through Klook and had an absolutely fantastic time.
From roughly 8 AM to 5 PM,
this Mekong Delta tour swept us away for an entire day.
I'll be revealing all the details: my personal experience, the cost, the itinerary,
and even how to book it – every single detail you need to know!~~~
Mekong Delta Day Tour
Out of everything on my Ho Chi Minh City itinerary,
the Mekong Delta day tour was the one I anticipated most.
Ho Chi Minh City is wonderfully suited for independent exploration,
offering an ideal city scale,
but its attractions can feel a little straightforward.
That's why the only truly 'special event' that caught my eye
was this captivating Mekong Delta day tour.
I secured my Mekong Delta day tour booking through Klook.
Booking in advance is definitely a smart move!
Ready to Book Your Mekong Delta Day Tour?🔻🔻🔻
While most tour programs offer a similar experience,
the main distinction was whether the Vinh Trang Pagoda was included.
Klook's option featured the Vinh Trang Pagoda,
so that's the one I chose to book.
It appears hotel pickup is primarily available for accommodations in District 1.
When you enter your lodging details during booking,
it will automatically inform you if pickup is an option.
I was staying at Sherwood Residence in District 3,
and unfortunately, pickup wasn't available from there.
So, I simply hailed a Grab to get to the meeting point.
Now, let's journey through that experience together,
almost like a mini-vlog!
Booking Your Mekong Delta Day Tour
With a stellar 4.9 rating on Klook,
this tour was an easy choice for me.
Thanks to a discount, we paid ~$18 for four people~
A Korean-speaking guide is typically reserved for premium tours,
so I opted for an English-speaking one.
Everything flowed smoothly, without any hitches.
It's a group of over 30 people, so you can just comfortably follow along.
The explanations, while informative, aren't strictly crucial to enjoy the experience.

Booking was a breeze! Once confirmed,
a QR code arrived by email, which I shared with my friends
and even screenshotted. However, it turned out I never actually needed to show it, haha!
That's because the local tour agency reached out via KakaoTalk almost immediately.
Upon meeting, they simply confirmed our names and party, and that was it – super efficient!~
It was incredibly convenient and hassle-free.
The day before departure, a reminder about the meeting point arrived.
Simply inputting 'WMC TOWER' into Grab led us there without a hitch.
From Sherwood Residence, it took us roughly 15 minutes.
Mekong Delta Day Tour: The Journey Begins!
This is the inviting entrance to WMC TOWER.
You'll find the local travel agency conveniently located on the first floor.
There was quite a bustling crowd of participants for the Mekong Delta day tour.
Over 30 people, I'd say!
Our comfortable bus soon arrived.
Those who had been picked up from their hotels were already settled in.
Alas, securing those coveted front seats was a mission failed!!!
After a few thorough headcount checks,
we were finally off to explore the wonders of the Mekong Delta!~~
You know how they say people coming from further away always arrive first?
Well, we arrived so incredibly early,
and ended up waiting for a good 30 minutes, which definitely sapped some energy 😩
📍Pro Tip: Always check the distance and estimated time with Google Maps,
and aim to arrive just about 5 minutes before your scheduled meeting time.
Mekong Delta Cruise
It took about 2 hours to arrive at the Mekong River.
Now, a cruise? No, just a boat 😄😄😄
to take us to Unicorn Island.
The Mekong River has ochre-colored water.
They say it's clean and pristine in its own way...
We traveled by boat for about 10 minutes.
Life vests were a must, even with the heat.
Among the approximately 30 people, there were four of us Koreans
plus two more, and the rest were from India,
Vietnam, and so on~
Spanning across several countries, it's a truly
massive river. Once on the boat, a gentle breeze
blew, cooling us down~
Thoi Son Island
We arrived at Thoi Son Island.
This island seems famous for beekeeping, as they sell honey.
It's not really about island sightseeing, haha.
More like a mandatory shopping stop on a package tour~
They had everything set up like this.
While sampling honey tea and listening to explanations
about honey, they showed us royal jelly and honey.
Buy 5, get 1 free!~~
When they added something tangy to the honey – was it lime?
– it became a refreshingly sweet and sour honey tea.
Snacks like candied ginger were also served.
On the left is royal jelly, and it's a 5+1 deal~
The price was around ~$35 to ~$41, I think.
I didn't buy any, so my memory's a bit hazy, haha.
You can hold a cross-section of a beehive with bees on it
for photos, and also take pictures with a snake~
I'm not a fan of snakes, so I passed on that one~~
When we came back out to the entrance, this time
we got to experience making local crunchy treats.
Ultimately, it was just selling these snacks, haha.
Mekong Delta
From Toi Son Island, we walk
and head to the Mekong Delta.
Walking along a pretty path, let's go inside~
Once inside, beautiful fruits
were laid out. They aren't for sale.
You can just enjoy eating them~
While enjoying the fruits, we get to watch a performance.
The singers kept changing, I noticed.
It felt like Vietnamese folk songs~~
The fruits were fresh and delicious.
The mangoes tasted a bit unripe and tart,
but if you dip them in salt,
the tartness really mellows out.
I finally understood why they provided salt~
There was even a photo spot, so of course, we snapped some shots~
We stayed here for about 30 minutes.
Ben Tre
We got back on the boat (which I insist on calling a cruise!)
and headed off for lunch.
We rode the boat for about 10 minutes.
As soon as we got on the boat, a downpour started.
Thankfully, we put up the cover and the rain didn't pour into the boat,
and once we disembarked, the rain stopped instantly!!
They showed us a demonstration of how to cut coconuts.
They demonstrated the entire process, from making coconut powder
to creating candy (caramel), and then offered samples.
This is what the coconut candy workshop is all about.
While we were watching, the rain started pouring down again.
Since there's also a coconut candy shop right there,
ultimately, this place is mostly about shopping too~
Just as we were about to head for lunch, the rain stopped instantly!!
Always the weather fairy~~~
Raindrops that had gathered on the leaves dripped down,
so we walked with our umbrellas.
Sudden squalls can happen,
so make sure to carry an umbrella~~
Local Lunch
We're taking that boat to go have lunch.
We rode for about 10 minutes~~
As we rode the boat along the narrow canal,
tropical plants like palm trees and cycads
on both sides really cooled our eyes.
Walking along a path lined with orchards, bullfrogs, and fish,
we arrived at our lunch spot. Those bullfrogs, though... *shivers*...
The food was already set on the table.
They served a whole fried fish, and honestly,
seeing it fried with scales on made my stomach churn ㅠㅠ.
But then they took it away, deboned it, made it into
rolls, and brought it back. The fish meat tasted much better than it looked~
Overall, the food was quite good.
I hadn't expected much since the tour price wasn't overly expensive.
But then again, Vietnamese food is generally delicious~
It was practically a reptile farm, with so many reptiles:
crocodiles, snakes, and more. You could even try feeding the crocodiles!
There's a stick with food hanging from it, and when you hold it out,
the crocodiles snap it up. I just watched from the side, though...
The Sampan Ride
Now, it was time for the boat tour I'd been looking forward to the most!
We were grouped in fours. They mentioned preparing a tip for the boat tour.
I think I gave about 50,000 VND~ You can give it when you get off.
Vietnamese conical hats (nón lá) were ready on the boat.
They're great for sun protection and look so charming~~
Taking photos, however, was a bit tricky since the boat was quite narrow.
The sound of water splashing as the oars strike,
the rustle of the wind, and the chirping of birds —
this boat tour is full of them!~~
It's such a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Just the boat tour alone made me feel that the Mekong Delta One-Day Tour
was a worthwhile experience.
We returned to the pier aboard an electric rickshaw.
The Mekong Delta One-Day Tour really lets you try out
a variety of unique modes of transport!~~
Once on the boat, we were handed refreshing coconut drinks.
It's all included in the tour!~
We returned to our starting point and then took a bus
back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Vinh Trang Pagoda
After about a 15-minute bus ride,
we arrived at Vinh Trang Pagoda,
the final stop on the Mekong Delta One-Day Tour.
It might not be a massive pagoda, but it was surprisingly
well-designed and packed with interesting sights.
In particular, the various forms of Buddha statues
made it a truly worthwhile place to explore.
Make sure to book a tour package that includes this!~
Especially impressive were the Laughing Buddha (also known as the 'Wrapping Buddha')
and the Reclining Buddha.
Don't you just love the Buddha's expression?
The smiling faces of the monks lined up in front of the Laughing Buddha
were also incredibly striking.
Indeed, a smiling face is always better
than a stern one.
Vinh Trang Pagoda, with its blend of traditional Vietnamese
and European architectural styles, is truly beautiful, isn't it?
It's the perfect photo spot!~
Inside, you can also see this fascinating fusion of cultures.
Next to the Buddha statue, there was another statue
dressed like a Catholic monk.
I felt that 20 minutes of free time was a bit
too short.
I thought it would be better if they slightly reduced the time for the Mekong River Day Tour's honey tea tasting
and coconut candy workshop, and instead gave us more time
at Vinh Trang Pagoda.
Afterward, we rode the bus for about two hours
and returned to Ho Chi Minh City.
I asked if they could drop us off at Ben Thanh Market,
and they kindly did so.
Chai Village, which I had reserved for dinner,
was conveniently close to Ben Thanh Market, and I also needed to exchange some more money~~
Ha Tam, a popular spot for currency exchange in Ho Chi Minh City,
is right across from Ben Thanh Market.

Mekong River Day Tour Overall Review
Afterward, they even asked for feedback on the tour,
so I shared my opinion that too much time was spent on shopping! ^^
This travel agency worked diligently
from the moment of booking until the very end.
If you're planning a trip to Ho Chi Minh City,
it's a good idea to go on the Mekong River Day Tour.
Just be aware that there are souvenir shopping stops (?)
along the way~~
Getting from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong River isn't easy, but this tour offers convenient transportation both ways.
You can spend a whole day, including lunch, for around ~$14,
so it's excellent value for money. The fruit is delicious too~~
Make sure to book in advance.
