I still remember the first time I visited Osaka, Japan.

You could think of it as the Myeongdong of Seoul,

and I'd heard it was an easy destination with lots of Koreans visiting.

But perhaps because it was a new region and a new culture for me,

from riding the subway to booking tickets,

I can't even tell you how much I struggled at Kansai Airport!

I just couldn't figure things out.

1. How to get from Kansai Airport to Namba Station

When you first arrive at Osaka Kansai Airport,

most travelers head to Namba Station, the city's central hub.

There are several ways to get from Kansai Airport to Namba Station,

including taxis, limousine buses, the RaPiT train, and express subways.

While various transportation options are available,

I really wanted to experience a Japanese-style train

and travel as quickly as possible with a 40-minute journey time.

So, I booked the Osaka RaPiT and used it to get there :-)

2. Booking the Osaka RaPiT

If you're considering booking the Osaka RaPiT as your way to get

from Kansai Airport to Namba Station,

On-site RaPiT purchase

Advance online booking

there are two main ways

to purchase your RaPiT train ticket.

If you opt for on-site ticket purchase,

Kansai Airport can be incredibly crowded with visitors,

and the queues for on-site Osaka RaPiT tickets can be very long.

Personally, I highly recommend booking online in advance.

In my case, I pre-booked my Osaka RaPiT ticket through the MyRealTrip website.

When you book online in advance, you can:

Pre-purchase one-way and round-trip tickets

Select your seats beforehand

Secure your preferred train departure time.

3. Rapi:t Timetable

When it comes to the Rapi:t,

trains usually run about every 30 minutes.

This means if you book your tickets in advance,

you can perfectly plan your travel around the timetable,

minimizing any wasted time and maximizing your adventure! =)

+ Quick tip: The timetables vary for weekdays versus weekends,

and the Rapi:t schedule is different from other express trains.

So, always double-check the timetable specifically marked 'Rapi:t' to avoid any confusion!

+ Another recommendation: Allow for at least a 1-hour buffer

between your arrival at Kansai Airport and your planned Rapi:t departure.

The Rapi:t boarding area can get quite busy!

4. Where to Board the Rapi:t

Once you land at Kansai Airport,

make your way up to the 2nd floor, heading towards the arrival lobby.

On the 2nd floor, you'll easily spot Exit E.

Just exit through E and head straight,

and you'll soon see the Rapi:t boarding area right ahead.

Kansai Airport is impressively large and very well-equipped!

However, its sheer size can make it feel a little overwhelming to navigate at first.

Whether you're purchasing your Rapi:t tickets on the spot

or you've already secured your e-tickets in advance, have them ready before you proceed.

Simply follow the bright blue lines on the floor, leading you right to platform number 2,

and you're all set to board!

The electronic display boards constantly update train information,

making it super convenient to keep track of your Rapi:t and ensure you're heading to the right platform.

It really reminded me of a modern express train system, efficient and comfortable.

Look for the distinctive blue train with those cool, round windows – that's your Rapi:t!

Your ticket will have all the details, including your specific train time,

so just board the blue Rapi:t at the designated time.

My Experience & Top Tips

As soon as you step onto the Rapi:t, you'll be greeted by dedicated luggage storage compartments.

Doesn't it remind you of other high-speed trains, with such convenient features?

Being able to store bulky luggage separately was a huge plus,

making the entire Rapi:t journey incredibly comfortable and stress-free.

It's reassuring to know that, much like in many other respectful cultures,

your belongings are generally safe and untouched, which definitely adds to the relaxed travel experience.

You simply head to your designated seat and settle in.

Even though the signage is mostly in Japanese,

it shares many similarities with modern high-speed trains,

so you'll likely find it super easy to navigate, no matter where you're from!

The seat spacing is generous,

and the windows are large, making it fantastic for soaking in the views outside.

If you're riding during the day, imagine the stunning daytime landscapes of Japan

you'll get to witness — truly a feast for the eyes!

+ A quick tip: the Rapit train can be a little shaky.

If you're prone to motion sickness, I recommend grabbing seats closer to the front.
