I'd say it's an absolute must-visit destination.
However, because it's so incredibly popular,
'advance booking' is absolutely essential.
Today, I'll walk you through all the essential info for the Kirin Beer Factory in Nagoya,
along with a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to book your tour.

Kirin Beer Factory Tour Basic Information

The Kirin Beer Factory Tour
includes a factory tour and tasting, costing
500 yen per person.
Tours run 6 days a week (closed Mondays),
each lasting approximately 80 minutes, with 6 time slots available daily.
The program is divided into 45 minutes exploring Kirin Beer's philosophy and history,
followed by 30 minutes of draft beer tasting.
You'll get to enjoy up to 3 glasses, including the famous 'Kirin Ichiban Shibori' draft beer!
✔ For minors under 20, pregnant individuals, or designated drivers,
the tasting will be replaced with non-alcoholic beverages.

popular time slots get booked up very quickly.
Make sure to reserve your tour at least a month in advance!

✔ It supports automatic translation, so booking is a breeze!
The Kirin Brewery tour
has switched to prepaid payment starting April 2026,
so you'll need a credit card that accepts international payments!
Starting October 1, 2026,
the tour fee is set to increase to 1,000 JPY,
so I highly recommend visiting soon!
After payment, a booking confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided,
and that's it!
You'll need to show this email on the day of your tour,
so it's a good idea to screenshot it for easy access.

A shuttle bus operates from Biyajima Station
to the Kirin Brewery.

Although they didn't directly check my ID,
they did inquire about my age and if I was driving.
When traveling internationally, it's a good idea to always carry your passport
as an alternative form of identification.
The Nagoya Kirin Beer Factory Tour is
the most comprehensive program, offering a tour and three tasting glasses for 500 yen.
The price is expected to increase from October 2026,
so I recommend visiting soon, by September.

Currently, it's ~$3 per adult. From October 1, 2026, the tour fee is scheduled to increase to ~$6.
The tour takes approximately 75 minutes. This includes a 45-minute visit to learn about Kirin Beer's values and history, followed by a 30-minute tasting session where you can sample up to three glasses, including "Kirin Ichiban Shibori" draft beer.
Shuttle buses from Biwajima Station to the Kirin Beer Factory operate at 50 minutes past every hour, from 09:50 to 15:50. Buses returning from the factory to Biwajima Station run at 40 minutes past every hour, from 11:40 to 16:40.
Starting April 2026, payment has changed to prepayment, requiring a credit card capable of international transactions. Popular time slots, especially on weekends and public holidays, fill up quickly, so it is recommended to book approximately one month before your visit.
