Today, I'm going to share all the best ways to get from Kansai Airport to downtown Namba.

When traveling to Osaka, if you fly into Kansai Airport (KIX),

you'll likely head straight to Namba Station, right?

So, looking at the options to get from Kansai Airport to Namba Station,

most travelers choose between the Rapi:t Rapid Express, the Airport Express train,

or the limousine bus.

Personally, comparing the Rapi:t and the Airport Express,

while the Rapi:t gets you there a bit faster,

when you consider the departure intervals and the price,

the Airport Express is actually a great deal! I usually take the Airport Express myself.

But based on the comparison table I've put together below,

you can choose whichever option fits your travel style best!

Even though I mentioned I usually take the Airport Express,

for this trip, I flew with Jeju Air

and landed at Kansai Airport Terminal 2.

To catch either the Rapi:t or the Airport Express,

I had to take the shuttle bus

from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1.

So, in this post,

I'll share my experience taking the free shuttle from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1,

along with a full review of riding the Airport Express

all the way to Namba Station!

How to Get to Kansai Airport Terminal 1

For those arriving at Kansai Airport Terminal 2,

remember I mentioned you need to head over to Terminal 1

if you want to catch the Airport Express or the Rapi:t?

To get to Kansai Airport Terminal 1,

your best bet is the free shuttle bus.

Once you grab your luggage and walk through the exit,

you'll see this exact spot right in front of you.

The airport is so compact that you literally can't miss it right outside!​

As a side note, the Seven-Eleven ATM

is located off to the right from this view.

Kansai Airport Terminal 2 isn't very large,

so the moment you step outside, the free shuttle stop is right under your nose.

There are also clear guides on the ground showing you

exactly where to line up, making it super easy to find.

The free shuttle bus arrived in no time,

and the interior was clean and very comfortable!

As I watched the scenery roll by from the shuttle...

And before you know it, we've arrived at Kansai Airport Terminal 1! ‼️

Take the escalator shown in the picture and go straight up to the 2nd floor...

and you'll find yourself right here!

If you're planning to take the Airport Express like me,

you can use the red/orange NANKAI line.

But if you want to buy an ICOCA card first, just turn around and...

you'll see this spot!

You can buy and top up your ICOCA card here,

and then head over to the Airport Express! 🚂

When you head down to the platform, you'll see this incredibly cool train...

But wait, this is the Rapi:t, which isn't the Airport Express we're taking!

Make sure you look for this one to hop on instead.

Every time I visit Osaka, I end up taking the Airport Express.

I haven't tried the Rapi:t yet, but personally, the Express is super clean and comfortable! ❤️

Just ride the Airport Express for about 50 minutes, and you'll arrive right at Namba Station!

Not so hard, right?

🚍 How to Get from Kansai Airport to Namba

The Limousine Bus is highly recommended for these travelers:

✔︎ If you want to skip the hassle of taking the shuttle bus

from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1

✔︎ If you've got lots of heavy luggage

✔︎ If your accommodation is near OCAT

Should I buy my Limousine Bus tickets in advance?

If you're taking the Limousine Bus to OCAT near JR Namba Station, buying your tickets before your trip will save you a bit of money, right?

BUT! If your accommodation is Candeo Hotels Osaka Namba like mine, I recommend NOT booking your tickets in advance.

Rather than getting off at OCAT,

it's actually much closer to get off at Doton Plaza.

So you should purchase a ticket for the Osaka Castle/Nipponbashi route

instead of the Namba-bound one,

but this ticket is only available for purchase on-site.

For reference, the price is 1,800 yen.
