Let me share a detailed, step-by-step review
of using the Rapi:t train from Kansai International Airport.
Three Main Routes to Namba:
1. Nankai Rapi:t Train
2. Airport Limousine Bus
3. Haruka Train
While there are three popular options,
if your final destination is Namba, the Rapi:t train
is hands-down the fastest and most convenient method.
My hotel was just a 6-minute walk from the Rapi:t station,
so booking this was an absolute no-brainer!

Buying tickets in advance online is significantly cheaper
than purchasing them at the counter.
Plus, you can reserve your specific departure time and seat,
saving you precious vacation time.
There's really no reason not to book ahead!
You can even change your departure time before the train leaves,
so there's no need to stress if your flight schedule shifts.

After clearing immigration and grabbing your bags, you'll be on the 1st floor.
Take the escalator up to the 2nd floor.
Once on the 2nd floor,
head outside toward Gate D, right across from the 551 Horai pork bun shop.
You'll see the Rapi:t boarding area right there.
If you booked in advance like I did,
simply scan your digital QR code at the gates and walk right through.
If you haven't, you'll need to line up at the ticket counter first.
I'll explain this based on my booking experience
through a third-party travel app.
When you open your booking app,
navigate to your "My Trips" page to view your order.
Pro Tip
Tickets must be used within one month of the purchase date.
Sometimes, they might get filtered into your "Past Trips" list!
I actually made both of these mistakes. ^^
I initially booked my tickets over a month early and had to cancel,
and yesterday, I panicked when I couldn't find my purchase history.
Open your purchase details and
click on the route (Namba Station / Shin-Imamiya Station / Tengachaya Station).
This will bring up a screen to download your voucher.
Clicking the link will redirect you
to a site where you can specify your travel date and time.
Just select your preferred boarding day and time, and you're set!
Pro Tip
If you input a target time like 11:00 AM,
the system will show you the two closest departures to choose from.
Once confirmed, you can review your reservation info.
The actual QR code is generated on the day of travel,
and screenshots will not work, so keep that in mind!
If your schedule changes,
you can use this exact same method to modify your departure time.
The train feels very similar to premium express trains like Amtrak or the Eurostar.
It's all reserved seating, making the journey incredibly comfortable.
There are dedicated luggage storage racks, but even if those are full,
the legroom at your seat is spacious enough to keep a suitcase right in front of you.
Since it takes barely over 30 minutes to reach Namba,
if your hotel is located in that area...
Taking the Rapi:t train is absolutely
the most efficient way to travel
from Kansai Airport to Namba.
Booking online saves you both cash and time,
so I highly recommend securing your tickets before you fly! :)
