Jinshiman Seaweed House
Must-Visit Attractions in Weihai
Where shall we go on Eunsu's latest adventure?
I recently visited one of Weihai's must-visit spots,
the Jinshiman (Jinsewan) Seaweed House.
Having visited myself, I've compiled information on its location, admission fees,
and even a recommended travel itinerary in this review.

1. What is Jinshiman Seaweed House?
Jinshiman Art Park is a coastal art park
inspired by 'Haichao-jib (海草房)', the traditional housing style of Shandong Province.

This isn't just a tourist attraction; it also operates as a resort (accommodation)
with guest rooms designed in the actual Haichao-jib style.
Guests staying here reportedly get free admission to Jinshiman.
When I visited, I found the unique Haichao-jib houses lined up against the backdrop of the blue sea,
giving the feeling of stepping into a fairytale village.

From Weihai's bustling downtown area (around Hanlefang),
it takes about 50 minutes by car (Didi taxi).
However, visiting only Jinshiman Seaweed House
and returning might feel inefficient for the travel time.
⭐Here's a possible half-day itinerary. |

Time | Activity |
13:00 | Depart Hanlefang (approx. 50 min by car) |
14:00~15:00 | Visit Jinshiman Seaweed House |
15:10~16:00 | Visit the Brewis Shipwreck |
16:15~17:30 | Stroll on Na Xiang Hai Beach · Sunset |
17:30 | Return to Hanlefang Night Market (approx. 40 min by car) |
This itinerary allows you to depart after lunch and return before dinner.
Keep it in mind for your travel plans!
You can definitely travel around using Didi taxi.
A 50-minute trip from the city center to the coast will cost
around 70-80 Chinese Yuan. Shorter 10-20 minute trips between attractions
will be around 20-30 Chinese Yuan.
3. Admission Fees & Review

Admission is 40 Chinese Yuan per person.
Which is about ~$6 at today's exchange rate.
Perhaps because the Jinshiman Seaweed House experience
is primarily focused on viewing the actual Haichao-jib houses and then leaving,
the admission fee felt a bit high.
It seems China often sets admission fees a bit higher
to manage the grading of tourist attractions.

Since there were two of us, we paid 80 Chinese Yuan.
Payment is possible with Alipay.
Later, I checked Trip.com and saw that
they were selling admission tickets for about ~$5 per person.
While this might seem like a small difference of a few hundred won (less than a dollar),
it can add up if you're traveling with multiple people.
Tickets for 2 people are currently discounted to around ~$8.
The difference can be up to ~$3, so make sure to check!

Once you've paid and entered at the ticket booth,
it's roughly a 3-5 minute walk
uphill to the Seaweed House.

It looked like such a picturesque photo spot, I just had to snap a shot from a distance.
The vibrant colors of the sea, combined with the beautiful flowers, created such a stunning scene.

The colors of the sky and the stone walls blend together so harmoniously.
Every angle here promises a picture-perfect shot, truly a photo for the ages!
There's even a swing that's a famous photo spot, but I completely forgot and walked right past it! Don't make my mistake!

As we continue, the Jinshiman Seaweed Houses begin to pop into view, one by one.
Notice how the roofs of these charming seaweed houses are wrapped in blue nets – it's quite unique!
With several houses to explore, I took my time wandering around.
Honestly, it probably took me less than 10 minutes to see them all.

Even so, if you're ever visiting Weihai, this spot is definitely worth checking out at least once.
The entire palette of colors here just blends so beautifully together.

I even took some photos sitting right on the stone wall – it made for a lovely backdrop.
Overall, I'm really pleased with how my photos turned out here.
But here's a tip: don't just come for the Jinshiman Seaweed Houses alone.
Make sure to weave it into a broader travel itinerary to get the most out of your visit!
4. This Spot Is Perfect For:

Travelers seeking a 'shot of a lifetime' with ocean views:
With the seaweed houses, the sparkling sea, and the rugged stone walls all in one frame,
every snapshot is a winner.
Those looking for a fantastic half-day adventure:
You can easily combine this with the Brewis Shipwreck and Na Xianghai Beach,
creating a perfect half-day itinerary!
