1. What is Japan's Departure Tax?
Its official name is the "International Tourist Tax."
Introduced in January 2019,
it applies to everyone leaving Japan by flight or ship,
regardless of nationality or age.
You don't pay it separately at the airport;
it is automatically bundled into your flight ticket price.
Children under the age of 2 are exempt.

2. How Much is the Departure Tax Increase?
