Don Quijote Japan Shopping List 2026: Best Snacks
From melt-in-your-mouth chocolates to intense wasabi snacks, here is the ultimate tried-and-tested Japan shopping list for your next trip in 2026.
You can't talk about a trip to Japan without mentioning shopping, right?
I have a major weak spot for shopping, so I'm the type who always ends up paying for extra baggage...
...just to haul back an absolute mountain of goodies!

On this trip, I packed my bags with everything from delicious snacks to daily essentials and lifestyle goods.
Out of everything, I've curated a list of the absolute best items—
things I've actually tried, tested, and loved!
If you're wondering what to buy on your next trip to Japan,
or looking for the ultimate Don Quijote shopping list,
I hope this guide helps you out! :)
Snacks & Sweet Treats

First up is a staple that always makes it onto any Japan snack recommendation list:
Hi-Chew Premium!
Lately, I haven't been as into super chewy gummies,
but because Hi-Chew Premium has such a soft, pillowy texture,
I find myself buying it every single time.
The fruit flavor is incredibly rich, and since it comes in a handy resealable ziplock bag,
it's the perfect snack to carry around and pop in your mouth whenever you want a sweet treat.
Personally, grape is my absolute favorite,
while the yogurt flavor was a bit of a letdown for me, so I wouldn't highly recommend that one ㅠㅠ

I tried the Wasabeef potato chips on my last trip and loved them,
so I made sure to grab them again this time!
The combination of rich savory beef flavor and the sharp kick of wasabi
makes it the absolute perfect pairing for a cold beer.

The Yama-wasabi (mountain wasabi) pretzels have a pretty intense wasabi aroma
and spicy kick, so they might not be for everyone,
but if you're a true wasabi lover, I highly recommend them!

Meltykiss is famous as a must-buy, winter-limited chocolate in Japan.
Since it was already March, I was worried they'd all be sold out,
but luckily there were some small boxes left, so I managed to snag about 5 of them!
Even though I'm not usually a huge chocolate person, these are so good I keep craving them—
they literally melt in your mouth!
They can melt easily in temperatures over 15°C (59°F),
so I highly recommend popping them straight into the fridge once you get home!

My chocoholic boyfriend picked this one out,
and it's also incredibly smooth and has that melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Personally, I felt it was just a tiny step below Meltykiss,
but it's still absolutely delicious!
If Meltykiss is out of stock, this makes
for a fantastic alternative :)

I was curious about this GABA-infused chocolate, so I decided to give it a try.
It was perfect for when I craved a little late-night snack.
When I compared my sleep before and after trying it,
I actually felt a slight difference in my sleep quality—
I seemed to fall into a deeper, more restful sleep on the nights I had some.
If you're looking for a relaxing Japanese "sleep aid" chocolate,
this is definitely worth picking up!

This feels like a richer, more concentrated version of Mon Cher,
but with a much deeper, premium chocolate flavor.
It pairs beautifully with coffee or a glass of milk.
I regretted only buying one box!
I'm going back to Japan in May, and I am absolutely stocking up on this!

I love these myself, but they're also my go-to gift
for family and older relatives.
They're incredibly famous as Japanese throat lozenges.
The yellow version has a much milder, smoother taste than the original blue one,
so I highly recommend the yellow packaging if you prefer something less intense!
Seasonings & Cooking Ingredients

Since I use pepper quite often in my cooking,
Gaban pepper is a must-buy item I bring back every time I visit Japan.
It’s highly recommended as a top souvenir seasoning from Japan,
and once you try it, the rich, deep aroma will have you hooked too!

This was my first time trying this particular product,
and it was way better than I expected!
It pairs absolutely beautifully as a dipping condiment for beef.
The subtle kick of wasabi perfectly cuts through the richness of the meat.
If you’re a meat lover,
definitely add this to your Japan shopping list!
Lifestyle & Beauty

Since Laundrin (famous as BTS Jungkook's favorite) wasn't really my style,
I decided to give this one a try.
Even though it's labeled "Homme," it works perfectly for women too.
It’s a clean, refreshing musk scent that is completely gender-neutral,
and I honestly never get tired of it.
I spotted the refills at Don Quijote this time and grabbed them immediately,
along with the matching fabric softener to stock up.
If you’re looking for a great musk-based fragrance recommendation, you have to try this!

If you suffer from rhinitis or seasonal allergies, you know how raw
the skin under your nose gets from constant blowing.
This is a soothing balm-type ointment specifically for that,
making it an absolute lifesaver and a must-buy Japanese drugstore find.

This is the famous Bioré UV Sunscreen, renowned for its incredible hydration.
I have oily, dehydrated skin (combination skin), and while it's okay for transitional weather,
I think it’ll be absolutely perfect for the summer heat.
It doesn't sting my eyes at all, and the texture glides on beautifully! :)
Health & Wellness Supplements

I always take Ukon no Chikara (turmeric extract) whenever I drink,
so I usually stock up on 1 or 2 boxes every trip.
But this time, I spotted the upgraded "Ukon GOLD PREMIUM"
and decided to give it a try.
It's a bit pricier than the standard version,
but to be honest, I didn't notice a massive difference.
For the best value, I’d say the regular granular Ukon no Chikara
is more than enough and highly recommended!

This is my go-to supplement during my period.
It’s a highly recommended Japanese iron supplement,
and since it’s a gummy/jelly, you barely taste that typical metallic iron flavor.
It’s so easy to take, almost like eating a little treat,
making it perfect for keeping up a daily routine.

In Korea, supplements like 'Nakatta Koto ni' or 'Bofutsushosan' are super popular,
but when I asked my Japanese friend,
they told me FANCL Calorie Limit is the trendiest one right now.
So, I bought a two-month supply this time. After taking it,
I feel like my post-meal food coma has definitely improved.
I'll post a detailed review once I've finished the full two-month course!
And that’s a wrap on my Japan shopping list haul! :)
Between the snacks and the lifestyle essentials,
I always end up facing overweight baggage fees.
But with so many incredible finds,
I just can't seem to stop!
I hope this was helpful! If you have any questions, feel free to drop a comment below!

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I keep in mind when bringing Meltykiss, a winter-limited Japanese snack, to Korea?
Meltykiss melts easily at temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius, so you need to be careful with the temperature. Therefore, it is highly recommended to refrigerate it as soon as you arrive home.
What is the difference between the blue and yellow Japanese throat lozenges when buying them as a gift?
The blue one is the original product, while the yellow one has a relatively milder taste. For those who do not prefer strong flavors, the yellow product is recommended as a gift.
Is the scent of Laundrin Homme products only suitable for men?
Although 'Homme' is in the product name, it has a clean musk scent that suits women well too. At Don Quijote, you can also purchase a fabric softener with the same scent as the perfume refill.
For a hangover cure, which one is better to buy: Ukon GOLD PREMIUM or the basic Ukon no Chikara?
Although Ukon GOLD PREMIUM is more expensive, it is hard to notice a significant difference from the basic product. Therefore, it is recommended to buy the cost-effective granular basic Ukon no Chikara.
