As I was planning my solo trip to Osaka,
the most important thing was the accommodation.
In Europe, I often used guesthouses run by Koreans,
but in Japan, I found that guesthouses run by Koreans were often a bit
far from major tourist spots. So after a lot of searching,
I discovered that capsule hotels exist!
📍 Cabin & Capsule Hotel J-SHIP Osaka Namba
2-chōme-2-14 Minatomachi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0017 Japan

The capsule hotel I used was J-SHIP Namba Capsule Hotel!
✅10-minute walk from Nankai Namba Station
✅Approximately a 15-minute walk to Dotonbori
✅Approximately a 7-8 minute walk to Namba Station
✅Less than a 1-minute walk from JR Namba

I was comparing it with Acro Capsule Hotel,
but **Acro Capsule Hotel** was fully booked for my desired dates.
After searching around,
it seemed that Acro and J-SHIP had similar capsule structures and shared facilities,
and the only difference was the location.
▪️Acro Capsule Hotel: Dotonbori
▪️J-SHIP Namba: Near Nankai Namba
Why did I book J-SHIP Namba?

Ultimately, I **find it more difficult** to move around with a heavy suitcase,
so perhaps that's why
✅it was actually better that I booked accommodation near Nankai Namba.
Maybe because it was my first trip to Japan, the 5th-floor lounge
✅with its Japanese vibe really captured my heart.
And since I visited in winter,
✅having a public bath was a huge advantage.
This was really important... I walked over 30,000 steps a day,
and my legs and shoulders were incredibly tired.
Coming back a little early and warming up in the public bath felt like heaven..
[Based on Agoda, November 3rd - 4th / 1 night]
J-SHIP | Acro |
Female-only ~$25 | Female-only ~$19 |
- Close to Nankai Namba Station - Has a public bath - Luggage storage available | - Luggage storage available - Located in the center of Dotonbori |
Acro didn't show 1-night availability, so I searched for 2 nights (Nov 3rd - 5th)!
Acro is slightly cheaper.
Since it's definitely in the heart of Dotonbori,
it tends to get booked up quickly...!
Since the hotels' characteristics are so clear,
✔️Easy airport access + Use of public bath after travel👉 J-SHIP
✔️Prefers central location like Dotonbori 👉 Acro
J-SHIP Namba Female-Only Capsule Hotel

J-SHIP Namba Capsule Hotel has a female-only floor,
making it a great place to stay for #solotravelfemalesinjapan.

You need to scan your key card to select the 2nd floor, which is the female-only floor,
so I felt much more confident about the security.
J-SHIP Namba Capsule Hotel Review

The biggest advantage of a capsule hotel
is that they provide amenities like this on the 1st floor,
so you can significantly reduce your luggage.
From pajamas and towels to toothbrushes, toothpaste, slippers, etc.,
everything you need is there, which is awesome.
🌟And best of all, you can grab towels yourself.
There are various towel sizes, so you can use the one you prefer.

Oh, and something that might be a bit confusing during your stay
is how to manage your room key and locker key.
✅ When entering the accommodation:
Shoe locker key ↔ Room key + Locker key exchange at the front desk
✅ When going out:
Room Key + Locker Room Key Return ↔ Shoe Locker Key
That's how it operates here!
Lounge, Locker Room, Grand Public Bath, and More!

The 5th-floor lounge, especially the entry to the indoor area,
has such an authentic Japanese style—I fell in love immediately!
This was actually the main reason I chose to book J-SHIP Namba
over Acro.
To be fair, it's nothing extraordinary, but as it was my first trip to Japan,
I was strangely drawn to it.
Haha!

On the same floor as the locker rooms, you'll find restrooms, shower rooms,
and the grand public bath!
What's fantastic about having them all linked to the locker room is:
▪️ You can grab your washing essentials and head straight to the restrooms or showers.
▪️ After you've changed, you can sort out your belongings right there.
It seriously cuts down on any unnecessary back-and-forth!

The grand public bath felt a bit like a Korean sauna or bathhouse...?
But honestly, who cares what it's called?! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ The water temperature was absolutely divine!
I instantly understood why everyone raves about Japanese onsen—it’s pure bliss.

My only slight disappointment was that the locker space and my suitcase were a *very* tight fit. Just something to keep in mind!
Inside J-SHIP Namba Capsule Hotel

As you step into the sleeping area on the 2nd floor,
you'll be greeted by rows of cozy individual capsule rooms.
Each capsule is clearly numbered, so all you have to do is find your assigned spot
and enjoy a good night's sleep!

I made my reservation through Agoda,
and interestingly, when booking there, you can actually choose between 1st floor and 2nd floor capsules.
I specifically opted for a Lower, ground-level capsule.

Sometimes there's a slight price difference, and sometimes there isn't.
But even if there is, it's usually not a huge amount.
Even if it's a little pricier, for the ultimate quality of your trip...
I wholeheartedly recommend booking a 1st-floor capsule!

If the idea of a capsule hotel feels a bit too snug for you,
fear not! They also offer deluxe rooms with proper beds, which you can use as a private single room.

You can fully draw the curtains, and the space is nicely partitioned,
meaning you still get that same sense of privacy!
A capsule room is about ~$22, while a deluxe room is around ~$36.
If I were to visit again, I think I'd definitely opt for the deluxe room for extra comfort.

If you're on the hunt for a budget-friendly solo stay near Namba Station,
then J-SHIP Namba gets my full recommendation!
The facilities are spotless, and they offer not just capsule rooms
but also deluxe rooms that feel like private single accommodations, giving you plenty of options.
But best of all, with its amazing 🌟grand public bath🌟, you can truly savor your Osaka adventure
without breaking the bank! *,*
