IOI City Mall Putrajaya 2026: Discover Basement Fruit Prices
Uncover the best tropical fruit deals at IOI City Mall Putrajaya's hidden basement market. From juicy mangosteens to affordable durians, get ready for a flavorful adventure!
Things to Do in Putrajaya IOI CITY MALL |
IOI City Mall, located in Putrajaya, Malaysia, is known as one of Southeast Asia's largest shopping malls.
It's so incredibly vast with countless stores that your legs might get tired just walking around! You'll even find the same stores on different floors.
While I'll do a proper post about IOI City Mall itself later, for now, let me show you the fruit prices at the store located on the basement level.
In Malaysia, building floor numbers are labeled differently than in some other countries.
G - Ground Floor is the level with the main entrance to the building. In many countries, this would be considered the 1st floor.
LG - Lower Ground Floor is the floor directly below the Ground Floor, which you can think of as the basement or -1st floor.

Head down to LG, the Lower Ground floor, and look for the supermarket area, and you'll spot this fruit store right away. Prices for fruits in Putrajaya were generally a bit cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur.
However, I found flat peaches to be cheaper at Isetan in Kuala Lumpur.

Longan, a fruit I used to eat a lot when I lived in Cebu:
~ $2 per 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram)

Six Dragon Fruits for ~ $3
There were two types of mangoes:
~ $2 per 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram)

These mangoes were exceptionally large.
Four apples from New Zealand for ~ $3

Another type of apple was ~ $5 for two.

Yellow flat peaches were ~ $1 per 3.5 ounces (100 grams).

Pink flat peaches were ~ $2 per 3.5 ounces (100 grams), but when I weighed about five of them, it came out to 50 Malaysian Ringgit, which is approximately ~$13.
At Isetan, they were half price, around 25 Malaysian Ringgit.

Mangosteens were about ~ $5 for two packs.

Right across from the fruit store, in front of the supermarket, they were selling durians. One durian was about 25 Malaysian Ringgit, roughly ~$7.
Currently, the durian harvest in Malaysia is excellent for 2026, so prices have dropped significantly – more than two to three times lower compared to last year.

My local friends and even Singaporean friends all recommended I eat as much durian as possible if I liked it, saying it's the peak season now.

I truly indulged myself and ate to my heart's content. Now that I'm back home, I've even ordered ten packs of frozen durian to keep enjoying it!
They also sell air-shipped mangosteens like this – should I buy some?
Isn't enjoying an abundance of tropical fruits one of the best takeaways from a trip to Southeast Asia?
