Anizah Tomyam Review: Authentic Street Food Near Concorde Hotel, KL
Discover Anizah Tomyam, a hidden gem near Kuala Lumpur's Concorde Hotel. This Lorong Perak street food spot offers delicious, affordable Tomyam and local delights for an authentic Malaysian experience.

Day 4 of our Malaysian adventure!
Already our third hotel!

We were wrapping up our urban getaway at Kuala Lumpur's Concorde Hotel, a place known for its history and charm. Just a 5-minute walk from the Concorde, we stumbled upon Lorong Perak, a bustling alleyway that felt like a mini night market. About 20 neat local eateries and pubs lined the street, offering a glimpse into authentic Malaysian life.

The prices were incredibly affordable, and the food was so delicious! We ended up eating lunch there and even grabbed some late-night snacks and drinks to go. I'm already dreaming of going back for that amazing Tomyam Kung, which was only ~$4!

It always comes as a set with white rice. The only minor downside is that it's served in a plastic bowl, but otherwise, it's fantastic!

The Tomyam Kung itself was a vibrant, spicy seafood soup.
Being a seafood Tomyam Kung, it was packed with fresh squid, shrimp, and other delicious seafood.

And yes, there were two generous shrimp!

We also tried a traditional Malaysian milk tea. Drinks here are often served in a plastic bag, placed inside a small basket – a unique local touch! If you order hot drinks or coffee, they do come in a cup, though I wasn't sure if it was plastic or glass. Definitely remember to bring your reusable tumbler when traveling in Southeast Asia!

It's like a little plastic basket you might find at a dollar store, but it's strangely charming...

We even saw a couple next to us get their drinks served in a small plant pot (haha)!

We quickly devoured our Pattaya Fried Rice, Seafood Tomyam Kung, and Malaysian Milk Tea!
My husband and I joked that if we were doing a month-long stay in Kuala Lumpur, we'd want to 'collect stamps' by trying every single eatery in this alley!
ANIZAH TOMYAM Menu

Among the approximately twenty stalls, my husband and I, being big fans of Tomyam Kung, gravitated towards ANIZAH TOMYAM.

When we asked for their signature dishes, they pointed us to the Tomyam Kung page. They offered a fantastic variety: Chicken Tomyam, Beef Tomyam, Seafood Tomyam (with shrimp and squid), Mixed Tomyam (chicken, beef, and seafood), Shrimp Tomyam, Squid Tomyam, and even a Vegetable Tomyam (perfect for vegans or vegetarians).
Prices for these delicious soups ranged from 12 to 14 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). The Seafood Tomyam we ordered was 14 MYR, which is roughly ~$4. While 'Kung' in Tomyam Kung typically means shrimp, it was great to see such a diverse range of Tomyam options here beyond just shrimp.
The menu indicated 'NASI PUTIH & SUP,' which means white rice is included as a standard part of the set.

We also ordered a drink, getting a recommendation for the most popular Malaysian milk tea.

Around midnight, we even went back for a late-night snack and grabbed a burger to go. And let me tell you, that burger was absolutely fantastic!

We saw Grab (ride-sharing app) drivers lined up, some even eating while waiting for their next ride.

It's a typical street food setup with a stall out front and the cooking happening just behind it.

This barcode allows for UnionPay or Alipay payments. It's incredibly convenient – with various mobile payment apps and a travel card, you can easily navigate payments throughout Malaysia without needing to carry much cash.
