Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu

The trendiest spot in Kota Kinabalu right now!
There are actually two Hyatt properties in the city:
the Hyatt Centric and the Hyatt Regency.
Today, we are diving into the Hyatt Centric!
This ultra-modern hotel opened in late 2022 and still feels brand new.
All guest rooms here accommodate up to 3 adults,
or 2 adults and 2 children (under 5 years old).
While there is no private beach, the hotel features a stunning outdoor rooftop pool
complete with a dedicated kids' pool area!
Baby cribs are available upon request, though they are subject to availability.
Now, let's take a look inside!
Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu
Check-in: 3:00 PM
Check-out: 12:00 PM
📍 Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu
18, Jln Haji Saman, Pusat Bandar Kota Kinabalu, 88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia
The location is unbeatable!
Situated right in the heart of downtown Kota Kinabalu,
you are just steps away from major shopping malls, local eateries, and banks.
As a newer property, the cleanliness and modern design are top-notch.
Plus, it is only a quick 15-minute drive (about 5 miles) from the airport!
Getting around town from here is incredibly convenient.
Walking into the lobby, I was immediately struck by the gorgeous, warm woodwork.
The entire space smells absolutely amazing, too.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room keys are made of real wood!
Both the Centric and Regency properties use these unique wooden cards.
A really cool, eco-friendly touch by Hyatt.

As soon as you enter the room,
the open-concept bathroom is on your right.
It features sliding partition walls that let you open or close off the space.
This layout is super popular in modern hotels now—it really opens up the room and makes it feel twice as large!

The room comes with a plush king-size bed,
a round work/dining table in front of the TV,
and a cozy balcony complete with a wooden drying rack,
along with a small table and chairs.
It is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring!

Every room is equipped with a high-end espresso machine
and complimentary coffee capsules.
Talk about a thoughtful touch for coffee lovers!

I had heard great things about the bathrobes here,
and they did not disappoint!
The heavy cotton material feels incredibly luxurious.

For peace of mind, I brought a portable shower filter.
This is what it looked like after two days of use.
Honestly, not bad at all compared to other destinations!
Now, let's take a look at the Deluxe Room.
It is significantly more spacious and airy than the standard room. Highly recommended if you like extra breathing room!
One small tip: the drinking water is provided in eco-friendly glass bottles.
I am not usually picky, but the water had a slightly distinct taste.
I ended up buying a few plastic bottles of mineral water from a local shop.

Up on the 23rd floor, you will find the rooftop lounge, the swimming pool, and the fitness center.
Everyone told me the lounge is best experienced at night,
so I headed up after dark...
And wow, what a vibe! Absolutely spectacular.
The rooftop lounge is incredibly popular in the evenings.
Make sure to grab a drink here at least once during your stay!

Rooftop Pool (23rd Floor)
Hours: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Fitness Center (23rd Floor)
Hours: 24/7 (Access via guest room key card)

Breakfast Buffet
Hours: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM (Extended to 11:00 AM on weekends!)
The air conditioning is incredibly powerful in the dining hall,
so I highly recommend bringing a light jacket or long sleeves!
While the spread isn't overwhelmingly massive, the quality of the food is excellent.
The fresh tropical fruits were a major highlight!

If you are planning a trip to Kota Kinabalu,
the Hyatt Centric is definitely a property you should consider!
