During the long May holiday, I had originally planned to head towards Daejeon, but the traffic was just too heavy. So, I cancelled my plans midway and, feeling a bit disappointed on the way home, checked my navigation. It showed Botong Reservoir in Hwaseong wasn't far from my location. We decided to grab a meal nearby and then stopped by Hyegyeonggung Bakery, a cafe by Botong Reservoir.

Hyegyeonggung Bakery is known as a truly grand cafe near Botong Reservoir in Hwaseong. Given its impressive size, it's not just a cafe; they also host weddings and sell accessories!
It's the kind of Hanok cafe in Hwaseong that would be absolutely perfect to bring your parents to. Just keep in mind that you might want to have a little extra budget prepared for your visit!

From the moment you step in, the entrance is beautifully decorated, offering plenty to see. Since there are also things that kids love, Hyegyeonggung Bakery Cafe attracts a large number of families.

The tiger at the entrance of Hyegyeonggung, the grand cafe by Botong Reservoir, feels like the bakery's mascot.
It's surprisingly adorable for a tiger, which is why so many kids were busy taking photos with it!

Hyegyeonggung, which felt magnificent right from the entrance, also seemed to be running quite a few discount promotions, as there were various event signs on display.
Hyegyeonggung Bakery Bread Selection

Hyegyeonggung Bakery Cafe offers an incredibly diverse selection of bread! They even have unique pastries that would be perfect for snapping some Instagram-worthy photos. Just a heads-up: while beautiful, they do come with a slightly higher price tag.

The bakery on the first floor genuinely offers a huge array of bread! Many of them look incredibly delicious, and with so many tempting options that everyone would want to try, I had to resist the urge to buy them all and just picked out a few types.

They even had apple-shaped pastries, which were a bit on the pricier side. However, families with kids were definitely buying them up! It's only natural for children to ask for such pretty treats when they see them, isn't it? :D

Please take a look at the Hyegyeonggung Bakery Cafe menu for reference. Even just by glancing at the menu, you'll notice it's a bit pricier than your average cafe, so it's good to check the general prices beforehand.

If you look at the map for Hyegyeonggung Bakery, you'll immediately get a sense of just how massive it is!
The parking lot is also quite spacious, so you won't have to worry about finding a spot. And after enjoying some delicious pastries...
It's also great for a leisurely stroll.

When I visited on a weekend, there were a lot of people,
so I thought our drinks might take a while,
but they came out quickly!
It was warmer than expected that day too,
and even though I usually prefer warm drinks, it was so hot,
so everyone but one person ordered iced drinks.

On the first floor of Hyegyeonggung Bakery, you'll only find the bakery counter and drink pickup area,
while the second and third floors offer indoor seating,
which is quite spacious.
What you see in pictures versus what you experience in person is quite different,
and that's immediately apparent at Hyegyeonggung Cafe by Botong Reservoir.

The view of Botong Reservoir seems best from the third floor,
while on the second floor, you can enjoy lush green scenery.
Hyegyeonggung, a large cafe by Botong Reservoir, has plenty of group seating,
so you don't need to worry about finding space for your whole party.

Stepping out onto the second-floor outdoor area, I found a surprisingly spacious spot.
Even though it's artificial turf, there are quite a few seats spread out,
making it perfect for enjoying a coffee outdoors on a beautiful day.

Behind Hyegyeonggung, the large cafe at Hwaseong's Botong Reservoir,
there's a small hill that's been made into a walking path,
and I even found a fountain along the way! :D

Besides the main building, Hyegyeonggung also has another annex,
and it seemed like a great spot to find fewer crowds.
My parents told me that the area shown in the photo above used to be where they grew plants,
but now it's being used as part of the cafe, so it seems like there are even more seats available.

Palm trees are planted here, giving it a distinct international vibe, which I love!

The small hill out back is beautifully set up for walks,
so I took a stroll after enjoying my dessert.
With plenty of lush trees, it feels quite shaded,
so even on a hot day, it should be perfectly fine for a walk.

While walking on the hill, I snapped a picture of Hyegyeonggung Bakery.
With several Hanok buildings, it looks incredibly elegant and traditional,
and with the great weather, it was simply stunning!

There are also art exhibitions inside Hyegyeonggung, and it's beautifully decorated, making it lovely to pop in and take a look.

You'll also find fashion items on display inside Hyegyeonggung, and it seemed many ladies were busy buying things or just enjoying some window shopping.
The little puppy at the fashion store was absolutely adorable, and I just had to snap a picture when it was blocking the entrance! :D

After enjoying a delightful walk and finishing the drinks we ordered earlier, on our way home, we popped up to the 3rd floor. It was a wonderful Botong Reservoir cafe, offering spacious tables perfect for group visitors.

On the way into Hyegyeonggung Bakery, I just had to snap a photo with this adorable tiger! :D
What a truly cute little guy! ^^
