Hotel Alexandra Hong Kong Review 2026: Sea Views
Looking for an affordable stay in Hong Kong? Discover why Hotel Alexandra near Causeway Bay offers the best value, stunning sea views, and 4-star luxury.
Hotel Alexandra Hong Kong Review

Let's be honest: Hong Kong is notoriously famous for having some of the worst hotel value-for-money in the world. Because real estate here is astronomically expensive, trying to save a few bucks often results in sleepless nights in rooms that feel like shoeboxes.

During my first week-long trip to Hong Kong, I tried to stretch my budget by booking a cheap Airbnb room as a solo traveler. I ended up in a place similar to the infamous Chungking Mansions, and let me tell you, it was a terrifying experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone!

Today, along with a quick guide on the best neighborhoods to stay in, I want to share my review of a fantastic hidden gem: Hotel Alexandra Hong Kong. I discovered this spot when traveling with a friend who works in nearby Macau, and it has completely changed how I book accommodations here.

📍 Tsim Sha Tsui
📍 Sheung Wan (Hong Kong Island)
📍 Causeway Bay
When deciding where to stay in Hong Kong, you generally want to focus on these three main areas. Tsim Sha Tsui is undeniably the most popular choice because of its proximity to major tourist attractions. The problem? The value for money is absolutely abysmal. To get a decent room here, you're looking at paying at least ~$154 a night. Even the ~$77 options will leave you questioning where your money went.

Sheung Wan is another great option, offering a perfect blend of tourist convenience and local authenticity. The room rates are much more reasonable than Central or Tsim Sha Tsui, and you still get excellent city access via the MTR and ferries.

But my ultimate recommendation? Causeway Bay. Honestly, I had never even considered staying here until my friend booked a hotel in the area. I was initially skeptical, but wow—you absolutely need to stay in this neighborhood!

Surprisingly, Causeway Bay offers much better hotel value than Tsim Sha Tsui or Central. There are plenty of newer properties where you can easily enjoy a 4-star hotel experience for around ~$77 a night. It's clean, vibrant, and easily the most satisfying area I've stayed in during my Hong Kong travels. Now, whenever I visit, I exclusively book hotels around Causeway Bay.
Hotel Alexandra Hong Kong Overview:
📍 Address: 32 City Garden Road, North Point, Hong Kong Island (2-minute walk from MTR Fortress Hill Station, Exit B)
📍 Nearby: Victoria Park, Hong Kong Tramways
🕒 Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 12:00 PM

The property I'm highlighting today is the 4-star Hotel Alexandra, which opened its doors in 2020.

Located in my favorite Causeway Bay / North Point area, its grand opening was slightly delayed due to the pandemic, meaning the facilities, interiors, and furniture still feel incredibly fresh and new even now in 2026.

The lobby and common areas feature a stunning blend of Victorian elegance and modern design—giving it a very chic, boutique hotel vibe.

The massive Victorian chandeliers and luxurious decor definitely catch the eye (you'll always see plenty of influencers snapping photos in the lobby!).

The location is stellar: just a 2-minute walk from Fortress Hill MTR station on Hong Kong Island. There's also a tram stop right next door, making it super easy to soak in that classic Hong Kong atmosphere.

The biggest draw? They offer sea view rooms! Finding an affordable ocean view in Hong Kong is incredibly rare. This is an absolute gem.

I've stayed at Hotel Alexandra twice now, and during one of those stays, I booked a sea view room. As a digital nomad, working with that view was an absolute dream.

As with most Hong Kong hotels, the rooms aren't massive, but they are incredibly well-designed and efficient.

The bedding is plush and comfortable, and they provide all the essential amenities you could need for a great stay.

It has absolutely everything you need.

I'm usually caught off guard by the ridiculously tiny bathrooms and sinks in Hong Kong hotels, but Hotel Alexandra cleverly uses mirrors to make the space feel open and breathable.

The hotel also boasts a beautifully maintained outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. I was actually bummed my busy itinerary didn't leave me more time to use them!

I opted out of the breakfast package, so I didn't get to try their morning spread. (Pro tip: Hong Kong has so many amazing local Cha Chaan Tengs and morning diners that skipping hotel breakfast is usually the best move anyway).

For a 4-star hotel in Hong Kong, getting this level of quality for around ~$77 a night makes it the ultimate value-for-money champion.

It hits the perfect trifecta: excellent location, top-notch facilities, and stellar service. I actively recommend this property to any of my friends planning a trip to Hong Kong.

You can often find great deals for Hotel Alexandra on Agoda!

While I usually use various OTA platforms to book my stays, I actually booked Hotel Alexandra through MyRealTrip this time because they were running a zero-margin promotion. However, prices constantly fluctuate. I genuinely believe this is one of the best value hotels in the Causeway Bay area.

(If this exact hotel were located in Tsim Sha Tsui, you'd easily be paying ~$154 to ~$230 per night for this level of quality).
Accommodation stress is a real issue for many travelers visiting Hong Kong. I firmly believe that a great trip starts with a comfortable, stress-free place to rest your head. Having stayed here multiple times on my own dime, I can confidently recommend Hotel Alexandra.
Of course, I highly recommend comparing prices across different platforms like Agoda for your specific travel dates to ensure you lock in the cheapest option!
