I visit this place so often when I'm at my grandma's house that I completely forgot to snap a picture of the exterior! It's such a familiar spot, it's like magic – even my old posts don't have an outside shot. Anyway, this place (even with its subtle renovations) genuinely has that charming, old-school restaurant vibe!

Grilled Gopchang

This is a 2-person serving of grilled gopchang!

Just use the wooden chopsticks provided to flip the gopchang until it's perfectly cooked!

If you're used to beef gopchang with its rich, creamy filling, pork gopchang might look a little different at first. But trust me, the chewy texture and savory flavor of pork gopchang are absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend trying it!

Gopchang Hot Pot

These are the side dishes for the gopchang hot pot! The selection is a bit different from the grilled gopchang sides.

I used to not be a big fan of greens, but the fragrant wild garlic (naengi) in this hot pot completely won me over. I think it’s what made me fall in love with hot pot in general.

While the wild garlic aroma isn't as strong as it used to be, it's still a randomly delicious spot. Sometimes the flavor isn't quite what I remember, but when it hits just right, it's absolutely divine. I could easily eat three bowls of rice with it! ❤️

The gopchang in the hot pot is also incredibly tasty.

Sometimes the rice bowls are generously filled, other times not so much.

The makgeolli served here is Hongju Saeng Makgeolli, and my dad loved it so much he almost stopped at Hongju Mart to buy some on the way home!

Sapdari Gopchang is a place I adore; whenever I visit my grandma's house, or even if I can't go, my grandma or parents always bring home a hot pot for me. While the hot pot's flavor can be a bit of a gamble, I haven't found another place quite like it, so I keep coming back, hoping for a jackpot. Haha.

By the way, they do offer fried rice, but personally, I think the best way to enjoy it is to mix rice directly into the hot pot stew.

This place is famous among my grandma's neighbors and locals, and the food is genuinely delicious, so I highly recommend it. As a true regular who's been coming since before they even had a fried rice menu and when the grandmas themselves were the staff, I wholeheartedly recommend Sapdari Gopchang as a top Hongseong restaurant.
