Today, I’m sharing my honest, self-funded review from my trip this past March,

along with daytime weekday wait times

and handy tips!

After exploring the Mid-Levels Escalator area,

we headed over to catch the Peak Tram around lunchtime.

We stopped by the nearby Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens

on our way. It was surprisingly lovely,

so I highly recommend adding it to your walking itinerary! :)

How to Buy Tickets

We booked our tickets in advance before the trip.

Seeing how long the ticket booth queue was in person,

I definitely recommend booking ahead.

Since we planned to take a taxi on the way down,

we went with the one-way Peak Tram + Sky Terrace option.

If you are visiting for the night views,

please note that the queues get incredibly long,

so make sure to budget plenty of extra time in your schedule!

Peak Tram Seating Tips

When riding the Peak Tram,

the side you sit on makes a huge difference for the city views,

so where you sit is super important!

Just remember these two things:

Going up: Sit on the RIGHT

Coming down: Sit on the LEFT

Additionally, for the very front and very back carriages,

you can enjoy a panoramic view right through the front windows.

So, if you can,

I highly recommend lining up for either the very front or the very back.

Here is a quick pro-tip!

In the very back carriage, the seats face backward,

which actually gives you an even better view of the Hong Kong skyline!

My Experience & Review

When booking Peak Tram tickets,

there is a basic ticket just for the tram

and a combo ticket that includes access

to the Sky Terrace at the top.

The Sky Terrace is an open-air observatory

located even higher up with glass-free views,

so I definitely recommend checking them out together.

The price difference is only about ~$2 to ~$3,

so upgrading is absolutely worth it!

Bakehouse (The Peak Branch)

Once you reach the observatory via the Peak Tram,

you'll find the Peak branch of Bakehouse,

famous for the ultimate must-try Hong Kong egg tarts!

While other locations have notoriously long lines,

the Peak branch is still relatively quiet and uncrowded.

There was almost no wait for takeout,

and you could get a table for dine-in

in under 5 minutes.

We wanted to enjoy them while looking out at the city skyline,

so we ordered ours to go.

They weren't overly sweet, and the filling was incredibly silky and soft, almost like a steamed egg pudding.

They were served warm, fresh out of the oven!

Wrapping Up

Visiting Hong Kong in March was

an absolute dream—perfect weather, scenic strolls, and stunning night views.

Especially if you're blessed with clear skies,

I highly recommend doing the Peak Tram around lunchtime

rather than waiting for the sunset or night crowd!

While the night skyline is legendary, the daytime views

are equally gorgeous and breathtaking.

It's the perfect choice for anyone looking for a more relaxed and leisurely vibe :)
