Here I am again, staying at another budget-friendly hotel in Ho Chi Minh.

Wait, no, my previous budget-friendly finds were in Hanoi and Da Nang.

This is my first time doing it in Ho Chi Minh.

It felt like I was only posting about value-for-money accommodations,

so last time, I switched things up

and posted about a reasonably priced Ho Chi Minh hotel first.

However, in terms of my actual travel sequence,

this Ho Chi Minh hotel actually came first, haha!

Since this was my first accommodation in Ho Chi Minh,

I decided to stay near Bui Vien Walking Street.

And naturally, I picked one with a decent price.

To be honest...

The room's vibe wasn't entirely my cup of tea, lol.

But I booked it based on two things: location and value-for-money,

haha.

(That's why for my *next* Ho Chi Minh hotel,

I spent a bit more for a charming, woody-themed room,

which I absolutely loved...)

First off, the location is excellent.

It's right at the edge of Bui Vien Walking Street.

It's not directly on the main street;

its location at the end of the street meant

I didn't experience any direct noise issues from the street itself.

However, I did notice some hallway noise – should I call it that?

The sounds of doors opening and closing from the room across were quite clear, haha.

But that only happened once during my two-night stay.

Other than that, there wasn't much noise from the Bui Vien Walking Street area itself.

Or so it seemed.

Oh, of course, it could also be that I slept very late during my stay!

If you go all the way to the end,

Slowly... the bustling vibe starts to fade.

And then, *voilà!* It just pops up, haha!

My expectations? Well, let's just say they were minimal.

I walked in with the mindset that all I needed was a place to lay my head!

During my stay, I never once saw anyone using the computers in the lobby,

but...

They do have three PCs available.

I didn't actually check if they were working, haha...

There were various traveler reviews displayed as well.

But seeing them all neatly arranged and posted,

it made me think, 'Hmm.'

Didn't they feel a bit... unnatural?

For a 'Walking Street' vibe, perhaps a more spontaneous,

free-spirited arrangement would have been better.

Now, let's head up to the room.

You don't just tap the key; you have to insert it here.

And make sure the chip side is facing up when you slide it in.

Ta-da!

Remember how I mentioned earlier

the room's vibe wasn't quite my favorite? Haha.

Well, this is what it looks like, lol.

It almost feels like the color scheme was targeting Chinese travelers, wouldn't you say?

A somewhat old-fashioned, clashing combination of red and gold...

But I vaguely recall hearing that not many Chinese tourists travel to Vietnam,

and I didn't seem to encounter many either.

Or so I thought.

But hey, whatever...

As long as it's clean, that's what matters.

That hotel visible from outside the bathroom...

It looks quite nice!

Something about seeing it from this angle makes it look even better somehow....

Hahaha!

And finally, let's talk about breakfast!

When I first checked in, they mentioned that breakfast wasn't served in this building.

Instead, I was told to head out and dine next door.

When I first arrived at my Ho Chi Minh accommodation and glanced next door,

it looked like a quintessential local roadside eatery.

Hmm.

Ah, I thought, 'Of course, it's a budget-friendly spot, so no restaurant inside the building.'

So, with that thought, I headed off for breakfast.

But I was totally wrong! Hahaha.

Before reaching that local street food spot,

there was actually a separate hotel restaurant! What a pleasant surprise, haha!

Just a silly misunderstanding on my part... oops!

As I was staying for two nights, I had two breakfast opportunities,

but I ended up sleeping through the first one... total fail, haha!

I really tried to make it, but I stayed up way too late the night before. Ugh!

So, on the final day, I was absolutely determined to conquer breakfast!

(Even though I stayed up late the night before this day too, haha,

I woke up with a singular mission: breakfast!)

Oh?!

It had a surprisingly great vibe!

Definitely leaning into that charming vintage aesthetic~

Hmm.

But the food...

I got the distinct feeling there wasn't as much to choose from as I'd hoped...

Of course, it's totally possible that I just went too close to closing time,

which might explain it.

But hey,

they had an egg station and all the essentials!

They also make fresh pho for you if you ask.

So, I simply ordered a comforting bowl of pho and a fresh omelet.

If you're planning on soaking up the vibrant nightlife of the backpacker street until late,

you might seriously consider skipping breakfast anyway! Hahahaha.

But I'm pretty sure breakfast was included in the room rate from the start here, wasn't it?

That's what I seem to recall... (Though, of course, that might just be for the specific booking I made, haha.)

At the very end of the vibrant backpacker street,

where the dazzling lights begin to soften and fade into the night,

you'll find the Duck-owl (?) Ho Chi Minh hotel, which is where I stayed.

Its biggest perks are undeniably its prime location and excellent price point,

making it ideal for a few types of travelers: those who just need a comfortable place to crash after a day of adventures,

party-goers who plan to explore Bui Vien Backpacker Street until the wee hours, or

budget-conscious explorers saving up for a splurge on a luxurious stay on their final night.

Definitely worth considering, haha!
