you might be wondering whether to visit Bui Vien Walking Street, famous as the backpacker street!

With its many clubs, loud music, and women often dancing in front of bars, I imagined many might find it hard to truly enjoy the street!

I felt the same way!

To cut to the chase,

it's worth visiting at least once... maybe.

Bui Vien Backpacker Street Atmosphere

If you love food and fun as much as my husband and I do, then a trip to Ho Chi Minh City will be perfect for you!

As evening approached, the air grew cooler, and we all walked to Ho Chi Minh's Bui Vien Street with my family.

The street truly comes alive in the late evening.

Nearby massage shops were also bustling.

A foot massage for 220,000 VND is a little over ~$7.

Leaving our regrets behind, we headed towards the heart of Ho Chi Minh's Bui Vien Street.

As we got closer to Bui Vien Street, the music grew louder and louder.

If you're not a fan of loud noises, it's a good idea to visit the bars located near the entrance of Bui Vien Backpacker Street.

Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to visit with older family members. The reason was exactly THIS!!

There are women dancing in short outfits in front of the bars... haha.

Sometimes, there are men too.

And the intense touting...

The closer you get to the center, the louder it becomes, making conversation difficult.

So, we walked around once and decided to sit down at a quieter spot!

Occasionally, you'll find some 'wholesome'(?) yet atmospheric bars like this... haha.

Loud music, touting... even motorbikes! ㅋㅋ

After a moderate amount of beer, we returned to our accommodation.

Still, wondering how much we drank?

Or what the prices are like on Bui Vien Street...?

Drink Prices on Ho Chi Minh's Bui Vien Street

Taking older folks to a club felt a bit awkward...

It's a bit noisy, but with plenty of international visitors, we ended up at this happening live music club.

The inside was a bit too boisterous, so we snagged a spot outside, which was perfect! Haha.

Given the heat, we each ordered a refreshing glass of Tiger draft beer.

Haha.

Even with the lively music, enjoying that draft beer right on the street felt absolutely fantastic!

As you sit there, you'll see things like...

Fire shows might break out, or you might encounter children asking for alms.

If you find these kinds of interactions uncomfortable, it might be better to skip this area.

They're quite common here.

For a quick bite, we also ordered some Mexican fries to share.

The taste was pretty standard, nothing groundbreaking.

Glad I snapped a photo of the receipt!

A small glass of draft beer goes for 65,000 VND, and a large one is 100,000 VND.

You can think of 500ml as around ~$4,

but keep in mind that taxes and service charges will be added, making it slightly more expensive.

While it might not be the absolute cheapest for Vietnam,

it was a perfectly fine spot to enjoy a drink outdoors for a bit.

These are actually the snacks and beer I enjoyed on a previous trip, haha!

Having a refreshing draft beer on the street, then grabbing a delicious bowl of pho at nearby Pho Quynh – now that sounds like a perfect evening! Haha.
