travel time, in the order I experienced it.

How to Get to Mihara from Hiroshima Airport
Hiroshima Airport isn't directly connected to the railway system, making the bus essential for getting to the city center or surrounding towns!

If you're traveling to Mihara, there's a direct bus that takes you right in front of Mihara Station with no transfers, and since Hiroshima Airport isn't huge, it's super easy to navigate!
Mihara Station: What to Know?
It's a station where you can access the JR Sanyo Main Line and the Shinkansen,
making it a must-pass point if you're starting your journey in Mihara or planning a trip to Onomichi!
📌There's actually a limousine taxi service to Onomichi Station, but it costs 4,000 yen (for adults) one-way and requires a reservation. Going via Mihara is definitely a smarter way to save on costs!
How to Get to Onomichi from Mihara Station

🚉
Mihara Station → Itozaki Station (糸崎) → Onomichi Station (尾道)
💴 Fare: 240 yen
From Mihara Station, it's just 2 train stops, taking approximately 13 to 24 minutes (depending on the train, there might be a 20-minute stop at the intermediate Itozaki Station, so times can vary slightly)!
⭐️Planning a Longer Trip in the Hiroshima Region?

If your journey also includes Fukuoka, Yamaguchi, Okayama, Shikoku, or Kansai (Osaka, Kyoto), then using a JR Pass will definitely be to your advantage!
‼️ Especially for a round-trip between Fukuoka and Hiroshima, the pass will absolutely pay for itself!
⚠️However, if you're only planning to sightsee in Hiroshima and Onomichi, the Hiroshima Tourist Pass offers better value than purchasing a JR Pass!

Where to Catch the Airport Bus
✅ Platform 3
The bus to Mihara from Hiroshima Airport
departs from Platform 3.

Once you exit the airport, you'll see bus platforms clearly numbered, so just look for Platform 3.
Boarding points vary by destination, so it's a good idea to double-check the electronic display for ‘三原駅’ (Mihara Station) to avoid confusing it with buses heading to Hiroshima Station.
The bus to Mihara doesn't feel like a typical airport limousine bus; it's more like a local town bus.

There isn't a separate luggage compartment for items like suitcases; you just bring them inside the bus with you. Japanese buses generally don't have high steps, so it wasn't too difficult to get them on board.
Bus Fares and How to Use Them
✅ Adult One-Way: 1,000 yen / Child: 500 yen
✅ Japan IC transportation cards (Suica, ICOCA, etc.)
✅ Domestic Arrivals Lobby on the 1st Floor: Tickets available for purchase
✅ Also usable with contactless credit cards

It's not about reserving seats in advance; instead, you just wait at the platform according to the operating schedule and board. (Think of it like catching a regular city bus!)

If you don't have a transportation card, no worries! You can buy your ticket directly from the ticket vending machines right after you exit arrivals.

Just a heads-up: this route doesn't have a super frequent bus service between the airport and Mihara, so it's a great idea to check the bus schedule against your flight arrival time in advance.

Lockers & Facilities

The bus will drop you off right in front of Mihara Station. It's the final stop, so there's no need to stress about missing your exit!

Inside the station, you'll find coin lockers perfect for stashing your bags. On the day I visited, it was the last day of a festival in Mihara, so the lockers were almost completely full!

If you absolutely need to store your luggage, the tourist information center right next to the station offers luggage storage for ~$3 per item per day. This is a fantastic option if you have larger bags that won't fit into the coin lockers!

It looked like the 7-Eleven was under construction, but it's back up and running! Beyond your usual convenience store essentials, they also sell delicious Ekiben (station lunchboxes), making it a perfect spot to grab a quick and tasty meal.

Occasionally, you'll find them selling local specialties right inside the station! Get this: there's even a Momiji Manju that features Mihara's unique specialty, tako (octopus)! 😄 I was so curious I had to try one, and I'll admit, having octopus inside a sweet bun was quite an… interesting experience, TMI! 😉 Also, I noticed they sell a lot of delicious puddings in this region that I haven't had a chance to sample yet. I'd love to try them sometime! 😊
