Hiroshima City Sightseeing Route
A Perfectly Affordable and Excellent Value Hotel
Words and Photos by: Today's Clear Sky
It was my first time traveling to Japan independently, so choosing a hotel felt quite challenging.
I'd heard a lot about high prices and small rooms, which made me search even more carefully.
After checking out YouTube and various blogs, the first place I settled on was Smile Hotel Hiroshima.
I'm excited to introduce it as a Hiroshima city accommodation that truly satisfied all my needs – location, price, and condition!

Smile Hotel Hiroshima
A business hotel in the heart of Hiroshima city.
Smile Hotel Hiroshima Information
Address: 7-10 Nagarekawacho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima 730-0028, Japan
Check-in / Check-out: 3 PM / 11 AM
Parking: No on-site parking (use nearby coin parking lots)
Getting There & Parking
It's super convenient to get around, being close to the city center of Hiroshima.
It's about a 10-minute walk from Hondori Station, and although it's one block off the main street, you can easily find it using Google Maps.
Since this was my first independent trip to Japan and a rental car journey, I was quite surprised to discover late that the hotel didn't have its own parking.
Turns out, many hotels in Hiroshima city don't have their own parking lots.
If you're planning to use a rental car, I'd recommend choosing a hotel with parking, even if it costs a little extra for accommodation.
There are plenty of coin parking lots nearby, so while there is a cost, parking itself isn't too difficult. Below is the parking lot we used; the price was similar to others, and its large size made it very convenient.
📍 Kokusai Park
Open 24 hours / Can park over 100 cars
06:00 ~ 18:00 → Maximum 700 yen
18:00 ~ 06:00 → Maximum 1,500 yen
Other times → 100 yen per 20 minutes
Smile Hotel Lobby
The ground floor lobby isn't huge, but it's clean and has a minimalist, no-frills feel.
While checking in, I noticed my husband communicating smoothly with a staff member. It turned out there was a staff member fluent in Korean, making our check-in super comfortable! (Extremely friendly)

Next to the counter, there's a designated area where you can freely pick up amenities (toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes, cotton swabs, slippers, bathrobes, etc.).
On one side, you'll even find merchandise from the Hiroshima professional baseball team on display, adding a fun little touch to browse.

Smile Hotel Twin Room Review
The room we stayed in was a Twin Room (Non-Smoking), featuring two single beds.
Smoking tends to be relatively common in Japan, so it's really important to confirm you're booking a non-smoking room when you make your reservation.
The room had a typical Japanese business hotel vibe, but there was actually more space than I expected, so unfolding our luggage wasn't a problem at all.
The bed condition was pristine, and the entire room felt well-organized and tidy.

The view was of other buildings, so there wasn't much to expect on that front.
I've noticed Hiroshima seems to attract quite a number of Western tourists, and this hotel also had quite a few foreign guests.
However, the soundproofing must be excellent, as we barely heard any noise, allowing us to rest comfortably.
Breakfast costs 1,500 yen and needs to be requested separately, but we opted not to use it and instead enjoyed a kissaten morning set nearby.

A Thought from Onueldeomalkeum
Compared to hotels in China, there were some aspects like price and room size that left a little to be desired, but once I realized that accommodation styles vary by country, it helped set my expectations.
Overall, Smile Hotel Hiroshima was a well-balanced choice, scoring high on location, price, and cleanliness.
I especially recommend it for its unbeatable location, as most major tourist attractions and shopping streets are easily reachable on foot – truly satisfying!
