Highlands Coffee Da Nang Review: VTV8 Branch Guide

If you are looking for a relaxing spot to unwind during your trip to Da Nang, there is one local chain you absolutely cannot miss. Highlands Coffee is Vietnam's most famous coffee franchise, but among its many locations, the VTV8 branch stands out as a must-visit spot.

The Highlands Coffee VTV8 branch is conveniently located just a 3-minute drive (less than 0.2 miles) from the famous Da Nang Pink Cathedral and Han Market. While it is close enough to walk from nearby hotels, the tropical heat can be intense even for a short stroll, so we highly recommend taking a quick taxi ride to save your energy.

If you are wondering what "VTV" stands for, it is the Vietnam Television Center. It is essentially the Vietnamese equivalent of major national networks like NBC or CBS, and the broadcasting building sits right behind the cafe.

Interior

Stepping inside, the cafe is incredibly spacious with plenty of seating, yet it is always bustling with energy. Even visiting on a weekday afternoon, the place was packed with locals and travelers alike. This branch is particularly famous for its stunning night views of the riverfront, making it an incredibly popular spot that stays crowded late into the evening.

Since the front area was completely full, we grabbed a spot in the back corner. While the air conditioning does not reach this corner perfectly, it is still cool enough to escape the midday heat comfortably.

Menu & Pricing

Let's take a look at the Highlands Coffee menu. The prices are incredibly budget-friendly, which explains why this brand is so beloved by Vietnamese locals.

An Americano goes for 59,000 VND (around ~$2), and even the most premium specialty drinks top out at 75,000 VND (around ~$3). While many air-conditioned cafes catering specifically to tourists easily exceed 100,000 VND (around ~$5) per drink, Highlands Coffee has maintained its accessible pricing for years.

They also offer unique desserts like matcha, caramel, and tiramisu cakes served in cute glass jars. The layers of sponge cake and rich cream stacked inside the jars make for a very photogenic and delicious treat.

Even if you pair your coffee with a dessert, the total bill won't even cross ~$6. While it is slightly pricier than a basic local street cafe, the consistency, comfort, and quality of this major franchise keep locals coming back.

There is a well-known story in the coffee industry about how global giants like Starbucks struggled to capture the Vietnamese market due to the strong local preference for traditional Vietnamese coffee and homegrown brands like Highlands.

They also sell branded merchandise, including tumblers and instant coffee packets, which make great souvenirs to take home.

I ordered a large iced latte, and the size was absolutely massive! It is easily comparable to a Starbucks Venti size, coming in at a generous 20 oz (around 600ml). Getting a Venti-sized quality latte for just ~$2 is an incredible deal, easily competing with budget coffee chains back home.

The flavor is perfectly nutty and smooth. If you closed your eyes, you would easily mistake it for a premium specialty latte from a trendy cafe back home.

Having visited Highlands Coffee locations across Hanoi (near Hoan Kiem Lake), Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, I love how they maintain consistent quality, flavor, and welcoming vibes everywhere. While there are several branches in Da Nang, the VTV8 branch on Bach Dang Street is by far my favorite. Give it a try on your next trip!
