When it comes to Osaka's iconic observatories, the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden and Harukas 300 are often the top contenders.
For an truly unforgettable experience, especially if you're traveling with kids, I highly recommend Harukas 300.
Why? It boasts incredible 360-degree panoramic views, and as an indoor observatory, it offers a comfortable, air-conditioned escape even on the hottest summer days.
Let's dive into my experience visiting Harukas 300 and how to plan your trip!
1. Harukas 300 Overview
Harukas 300 Observatory is conveniently located right in front of Tennoji Station, offering direct access from the station.
The Tennoji area of Osaka is also home to other fantastic attractions like Tsutenkaku Tower, Tennoji Zoo, and Shitennoji Temple, making it a perfect spot for a family-friendly day out.

Take the escalator up to the 16th floor, then simply follow the blue directional signs until you reach the Harukas 300 ticket counter.
This is where you can purchase or exchange your tickets.
2. Booking Your Harukas 300 Tickets
There are three main ways to get your Harukas 300 Observatory admission ticket:
on-site purchase, advance booking online, or by using the Kansai Joy Pass.
** Note: The Osaka Amazing Pass is NOT valid for Harukas 300.
I used the Kansai Joy Pass for my entry, and it was a great value!

While a specific promotion that ended on 07/05/2026 is no longer active, it's always worth checking Klook for current deals and discounts on tickets!
If you're only planning to visit the observatory, advance booking online is usually your best bet for a slightly lower price. However, if your Osaka itinerary includes other popular attractions like cruises or ferris wheels, I highly recommend purchasing the Kansai Joy Pass.
What's more, the Kansai Joy Pass also includes a Haruka Ticket worth ~$10 for transportation from Kansai Airport to Osaka Station. So, if you're planning to enjoy various facilities in Osaka, the Kansai Joy Pass offers significant savings.
3. The Osaka Observatory Experience
The moment the elevator doors open, you're greeted with an awe-inspiring vista. I visited in the evening, and the night view was absolutely breathtaking!
I literally gasped at how beautiful it was 🥹
Currently, Harukas 300 stands as the third-tallest building in Japan and the tallest in Osaka.
As its name suggests, Harukas 300 Observatory is situated at a towering height of approximately 984 feet (300 meters). This means you get a far more expansive view of Osaka than from the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory, which is around 568 feet (173 meters) tall.
From up here, you can enjoy a full 360-degree panorama of Osaka city, including the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower. On a clear day, you can even spot Kobe, Kyoto, and Nara in the distance!
While it was fun trying to identify different landmarks, simply gazing at the endless expanse of the night lights was incredibly satisfying.
There are plenty of seats available, so you can relax and take in the views at your own pace. This makes it a fantastic observatory for families with children, as everyone can comfortably enjoy the experience.
Don't forget to bring a small notebook to collect a commemorative stamp! It's a fun little souvenir.
With 360-degree floor-to-ceiling windows, the Osaka cityscape unfolds before you from every angle. It truly kept me captivated the entire time.
The observatory is designed with two levels. The lower level features an open ceiling, allowing you to enjoy the fresh breeze while taking in the spectacular views – a unique touch!
You'll find a cafe on-site offering a range of beverages, from coffee and smoothies to beer, as well as meal options like pasta and tonkatsu. It's a convenient spot for a quick bite or a refreshing drink.
Even if you're not planning to dine, there's ample seating to simply relax and soak in the views. I definitely recommend exploring this space when you visit Harukas 300.
There's also a small gift shop, perfect for browsing. You'll find a variety of merchandise featuring Harukas 300's adorable mascot, making for unique Osaka souvenirs.
Even on your way out, you can continue to enjoy the stunning Osaka skyline.
