I was so worried I wouldn't be able to go to Sapa after coming all the way to Vietnam,

This is how to book the HK Bus,

which has the best ratings and most reviews among Sapa sleeping buses.

‼️A point to note here:

There's also a 28-seater President Limousine Bus,

but this bus has reclining seats,

so you can't lie down comfortably. ㅠㅠ

If you want to lie down and travel comfortably, be sure to

choose the 22-seater sleeping bus!

⑤ Select additional options

There's also a Sapa luggage storage service option,

but I left my luggage at the hotel I checked out from,

so I didn't select it separately.

If your hotel doesn't offer luggage storage,

adding this option could be a good solution.

⑥ Select your time

You can select times from 00:30 (12:30 AM) to 5 PM.

For your reference, the sleeping bus from Hanoi to Sapa takes

about 6-7 hours.

So, to save on hotel costs and maximize my travel time,

I chose the 00:30 (12:30 AM) departure.

If you depart during the day,

the advantage is that you can enjoy the outdoor scenery,

whereas if you depart at night like I did, you travel while sleeping,

which has the advantage of saving you one night's accommodation fee.

You can choose based on your preference!

⑦ Select your seat

You can choose between the 1st and 2nd floors.

The Klook booking price for the Sapa sleeping bus is

~$17 for a 1st-floor seat,

and ~$14 for a 2nd-floor seat.

There were reviews that said the 1st floor causes motion sickness,

so I booked a seat on the 2nd floor.

There were also reviews that said the 2nd floor was shaky,

but once I actually rode it, it wasn't that

It didn't shake too much, actually.

Honestly, I felt a slight wobble when *I* moved around on the second floor.

So, if I'd been on the first floor,

I think I would've been more aware of the person's movements above me.

Just select your preferred seats and the number of tickets,

⑧ Choose Your Pickup/Drop-off Location

When you book through Klook,

they'll pick you up right from your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter.

And if your accommodation is in Sapa city,

you'll even get a convenient drop-off service there too!

All you need to do is enter your hotel name,

making it super convenient and hassle-free.

2. My Sleeping Bus Experience

Your hotel pickup will be approximately

one hour before the bus's scheduled departure.

They'll send you an email with the exact time the day before,

so make sure to keep an eye on your inbox!

When you arrive at the sleeping bus boarding point,

they'll check your ticket and load your luggage into the bus's storage compartment for you.

They even attach luggage tags to your bags and keep them organized,

which felt really secure – no worries about losing anything!

It was surprisingly systematic, even better than I expected.

On Vietnamese buses, you need to take off your shoes before boarding,

So, at the entrance, I put mine into a black plastic bag.

Each bunk had a curtain,

making it much more private than I anticipated.

It totally felt like a capsule hotel!

You'll find a blanket and a pillow,

plus they even provide a bottle of water.

The bunk is 180cm long,

so if you're over 175cm tall,

you might find it a bit tight to stretch out completely?

Luckily, I'm 156cm, so I had plenty of room! ^^

There's even a massage function built into the seat,

but honestly, it wasn't very effective, haha.

Plus, the vibration noise was quite loud and felt a bit disruptive,

so I decided not to use it.

The windows had blackout curtains, so no light bothered me,

but the bus was surprisingly bumpy, which caused me to wake up a few times.

(This is why I personally think the second-floor bunks are better than the first-floor ones!)

Bringing earplugs and a disposable eye mask?

Absolute game-changer!

With snug-fitting earplugs in and the eye mask warming up ever so slightly,

I drifted right off to sleep.

If you're planning a sleeping bus trip,

I highly, highly recommend packing these two items!

Apparently, we stopped at rest areas twice along the way,

but I was in such a deep sleep, I didn't even notice!

My husband, who was traveling with me, told me about it later, haha.

The first rest stop's bathroom is free,

but the second one charges 3,000 dong in cash.

So, it's a good idea to keep 3,000 dong handy for any bathroom emergencies!​

We arrived in Sapa bright and early (around 5:50 AM)

and were dropped off right in front of the HK Bus office.

After a short wait, a shuttle bus whisked us away directly to our accommodation,

ensuring a smooth and safe transfer!

Here's a pro-tip: since you arrive so early in the morning,

definitely check with your Sapa accommodation beforehand

to see if early check-in is available!

Thankfully, my hotel had a vacant room, so I was able to get a free early check-in.

Otherwise, I would have been left wandering around Sapa town,

unwashed and looking absolutely shattered...
