Today, for everyone planning a trip to Hanoi,

we're going to dive into how to book a Sapa sleeping bus,

its cost, seat reviews, and the total travel time!

There were several Hanoi Sapa sleeping bus companies,

but we ended up choosing HK because it had the best reviews!

Well, let's cut straight to the chase!

We tried both the train and the sleeping bus,

and honestly, I much preferred the sleeping bus.

Why? Because even with the best efforts to maintain cleanliness,

the train felt a little less fresh. But the sleeping bus was

truly comfortable and clean, which was a huge plus!

One important note! If you suffer badly from motion sickness,

this might not be for you. However, if you're heading to Sapa,

you're likely to encounter some degree of motion sickness no matter how you travel.

Even if you take the train, you'll still need to travel by car to Sapa's town center,

and those winding roads are quite adept at causing motion sickness, haha.

So, even if you don't typically get severe motion sickness,

we highly recommend having a good meal and taking some motion sickness medication

before you board!

1. Hanoi Sapa Sleeping Bus HK: Booking Method & Price

You can easily book your Hanoi Sapa sleeping bus through Klook,

and we personally opted for the HK sleeping bus!

When we first started, we were a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out

which option to pick, so we did a lot of research. For those of you

traveling from Hanoi to Sapa, we'll keep the explanation as simple as possible!

① Click on the Sapa sleeping bus booking link above

and select your desired date.

② You can choose your departure point from either Hanoi Old Quarter or Noi Bai International Airport,

heading towards Sapa. If you select Hanoi Old Quarter, which is Hanoi's city center,

hotel pickup is available if your hotel is within the city area!

③ Next, select the 22-seater sleeper bus and your preferred time slot.

Just remember, 'Single Upper' refers to the 2nd floor, and 'Lower' is the 1st floor!

The 1st-floor seat costs ~$17.

A 2nd-floor sleeping seat costs ~$15.

It seems the 1st floor is more expensive because the 2nd floor experiences less severe motion sickness!

Then, the pickup and drop-off fields will appear, where you'll simply need to provide

the names of your hotel in Hanoi city and your hotel in Sapa's town center!

Once that's done, your booking is complete! Later, your Hanoi hotel

pickup time will be sent via KakaoTalk and email, but this can be a bit of a lottery.

Sometimes the pickup time only appears an hour before departure,

while other times you'll receive it the day before.

So, if you're like me and get anxious when things aren't confirmed in advance, don't worry!

Since the departure point is always in Hanoi city, heading there directly yourself isn't a bad option,

and for your Sapa hotel...

Sometimes, simply appreciating a smooth drop-off can do wonders

for your mental peace and well-being.

2. Sapa Sleeping Bus HK Seat Review and Travel Time

First up, let's talk about the Hanoi to Sapa sleeping bus.

The journey typically takes approximately 6 to 7 hours!

However, perhaps because we traveled at night... it honestly felt a lot shorter.

The bus also makes a stop at a rest area midway through the journey,

but honestly, since we boarded at night and were fast asleep,

I only recall stopping once.

What I really loved was that each seat comes with its own curtain,

offering a good amount of privacy.

(Let's be real, who wants to be seen sleeping, right? 😉)

Since there were four of us,

we split up with two people on the first floor and two on the second.

Honestly, in Korea, we don't really have sleeping buses where you can fully lie down,

so I was incredibly excited for this experience! Should I even call them 'rooms'?

The seats were incredibly comfortable!

They even provided water, and there were headphones available.

You'd typically use them to watch something connected to a screen,

but since there wasn't anything to plug into,

we just snapped some photos and enjoyed the ride without them!

Another great thing is that the seats are quite spacious.

While they might appear a bit narrow in the photos,

they actually felt really wide and comfortable in person.

You even get a window, a blanket, and a pillow right by your side!

And personally, I found it cleaner than the train, which was a huge plus.

I actually slept on both the first and second floors.

See, when my motion sickness gets really bad, I just drift off to sleep!

So for me, it was a blessing, but...

my husband, unfortunately, had a terrible time with motion sickness.

But here's a key point to remember: don't assume that taking the train

means you'll escape motion sickness. That definitely wasn't my experience.

In fact, for me, the train journey was pure agony!

If you take the train, you'll get off at Lao Cai station, but then

you still need to catch another ride into Sapa's town center.

And let me tell you, that road to Sapa is super winding – a real motion sickness challenge!

So, whether you choose the train or the bus, you're pretty much

guaranteed to experience some motion sickness along the way...!

However, if you opt for the Sapa sleeping bus,

it drops you off directly in the heart of Sapa. If you take the train,

you'll still need to arrange a car from Lao Cai station to Sapa,

which means extra time and money. So, when you weigh the costs and the time,

the sleeping bus definitely comes out as

the more economical option.

Despite the challenges, I still wholeheartedly recommend it!

It's an adventure you simply won't find in Korea, and the moment you arrive in Sapa,

you'll feel like you've stepped into a magical paradise where everything looks like heaven.

While a second time might be a stretch for me,

if you're traveling with friends,

or as a couple or with your spouse,

I definitely recommend giving the sleeping bus

a try at least once!
