📍 Han Market
119 Trần Phú, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000 Vietnam
Located right in the heart of downtown Da Nang,
Han Market is practically the starting point for any Da Nang trip—
so many travelers pass through here first!

But because it is incredibly bustling and packed,
you can easily get lost in the maze if you don't do your homework beforehand.
Don't worry, just follow Mellow Trip's ultimate insider tips!

Pro Tips for Visiting Han Market

The stall numbers mentioned are the ones where I personally made purchases.
Although I compared options and chose these shops myself,
other stalls might have better deals or selections.
If you are pressed for time and need to shop quickly,
feel free to use these stall numbers as a handy reference!
When visiting Han Market, timing is everything.
If you head there at the crack of dawn just because of the official hours,
or visit during the hottest hours of the day, you'll have a tough time.
I highly recommend visiting after 9:00 AM or after 4:00 PM.
This is the sweet spot when almost all the stalls are open,
but the crowds are relatively thin, making for a much more comfortable
shopping experience.
Around 2:00 PM is when the market is most crowded
and extremely hot, so it's best to avoid this time.
Pre-trip Checklist
Cash (Vietnamese Dong / VND) is a must-have!
Most stalls do not accept credit cards.
Comfortable shoes and clothing are also key.
It gets quite warm inside, and you'll be doing a lot of walking to compare prices.
And lastly, don't forget a relaxed mindset.
Bargaining is all part of the adventure,
so keep a smile on your face and enjoy the process!
Where is the Best Place to Exchange Money near Han Market?
The very first step of your shopping spree is exchanging currency.
The most famous spots in Da Nang for getting the best exchange rates
are the jewelry shops located
directly opposite Han Market.

Among travelers, the most
popular spots are SOAN HA and
TAM THINH.
Here is a post I wrote after my visit.
Be sure to check it out!
Bringing US Dollars (USD) and exchanging them for Vietnamese Dong (VND)
will yield the best rates.
Using crisp, clean $100 bills
will secure you an even better exchange rate,
so keep that in mind before you go!
Always make it a habit to double-check the cash amount
right there at the counter before walking away.

Shopping List & Practical Tips

Han Market is divided into the 1st and 2nd floors.
Since the types of items sold on each floor are distinctly separated,
it's highly efficient to plan your route in advance.

2nd Floor: Ao Dai, Crocs, Brand-name Goods, & Underwear

Head up to the 2nd floor, the ultimate battlefield for fashion lovers (we highly recommend visiting this floor first)!
This is where you want to go to hunt down clothing and accessories.
It’s packed with Ao Dai, Crocs, beautiful dresses, and designer dupes.
Ao Dai (Traditional Vietnamese Dress)
You can get them custom-made or buy ready-to-wear ones off the rack.

For custom orders, if you get measured in the morning, you can have them delivered
to your hotel by the afternoon or the very next day!
Crocs and Slides (Stall 254)

An absolute must-have for traveling in Da Nang!
You can find an endless variety of Jibbitz charms and colors
that are hard to find back home, all at incredibly cheap prices.

Comfort is key, so make sure to try them on before buying!
Branded T-Shirts (Stall 202)

Comfy activewear tees and
classic branded logo t-shirts.

Breezy resort-wear dresses for women
are also super popular items here.
Underwear & Socks (Stall 160 - Highly Recommended!)

Seamless/ultra-comfortable panties and bras for women.
Only ~$1 per pair!
Reviews say the quality is absolutely amazing,
and it's one of those things where no matter how many you buy, you'll regret not buying more!
Men's Underwear

They have brands like Lacoste, Calvin Klein,
and Adidas.
Just like the women's items, they are super affordable and surprisingly high quality.
Athletic Socks

The quality of brand-name socks like Nike
isn't top-tier,
but they are totally worth it for the price.
Athletic Brand Bags

Bags from brands like Nike and The North Face
came in all shapes and sizes.

The bags were surprisingly decent quality!
Just make sure to carefully check the zippers and stitching before you buy.
Pro Shopping Tips for the 2nd Floor
1. Vietnamese clothing sizes run small.
Go 1 or 2 sizes up from your usual size!
2. Clothes with embroidery last much longer than printed designs.
3. Price matching is an absolute must.
Don't just buy the first thing you like.
Ask for prices at least 2 or 3 different places
to get a sense of the actual going rate.
The 1st Floor: A Paradise of Street Food and Rattan Bags

The 1st floor greets you with its own unique aroma,
filled with dried seafood, fresh exotic fruits, and
charming handcrafted rattan items.

Mango jellies and dried mangoes are the absolute most popular
souvenirs to bring home to friends and family.
The 'Top Fruit' brand is the most famous,
and you can even sample them before you buy.
Some of them are imported from China, though,
so make sure to check the origin before purchasing!

As a classic Vietnam souvenir, rattan bags
are incredibly cheap here compared to back home.
There are so many designs, so take your time to compare!

My kid was really interested, so we checked them out and bought a few.
The value for money was absolutely amazing!
However, the durability... wasn't the best.
When we mentioned it broke on our second visit,
they immediately exchanged it for us without any hassle.
Pro Shopping Tip for the 1st Floor
When buying dried seafood or jellies, instead of the stalls near the entrance,
the shops deeper inside tend to be a bit cheaper
or much easier to bargain with.
Da Nang Han Market Bargaining Hacks!
Real-Life Bargaining Tips for Shopping Success
The real fun of shopping at Han Market is bargaining!
Since it's not a fixed-price market, the vendors expect you to negotiate,
so they always quote a high price at first.
Suggest Buying in Bulk
"I'll buy three, can I get a discount?"
This is by far the most effective strategy.
If you pool your purchases with your travel buddies,
it's so much easier to get a sweet discount.

Always Bargain with a Smile
Instead of just demandingly asking for a lower price, try saying with a smile,
"Discount?" or "Kka-kka-ju-se-yo" (Please discount it in Korean).
They'll understand you! Most shopkeepers understand
basic English and Korean shopping terms. Typing your desired price on a calculator
and showing it to them is also a great tactic.
Remember, vendors are always more generous to friendly customers!

Before you go, make sure to take a screenshot of the
Han Market Price List
frequently shared on travel forums and blogs.
Searching for the "Han Market Price List" on travel blogs
will give you plenty of updated info on what things should actually cost.
Important Things to Keep in Mind When Visiting Han Market
Watch out for pickpockets!
Make sure to wear your bag in front of you
and keep a close eye on your wallet and phone.
The first floor of Han Market sells Vietnamese specialties,
including "mắm" (fermented fish sauce) and various dried seafoods.
The smell can be quite strong!
If you have a sensitive stomach, we highly recommend wearing a mask
or passing through this section as quickly as possible.
Since there is no air conditioning, between 12 PM and 2 PM,
the temperature peaks, and many vendors take lunch
or rest breaks.
