Worry-Free Fun for Elementary Schoolers

As soon as we stepped onto Guryongpo Beach, we were greeted by expansive ocean views and a beautifully maintained, pristine white sand beach. It was breathtaking!
What truly impressed us was the strict safety management. If anyone ventured even slightly past the yellow buoys, an announcement was immediately made to guide them back. This level of attentiveness made us feel incredibly secure.
The water depth up to the safety buoy area only reached about waist-high for an elementary school-aged child, roughly 2-3 feet deep. This meant the kids could splash and play on their own, giving us parents complete peace of mind.
Seashell Hunting & Marine Life Exploration
The water here is exceptionally clear, boasting incredible transparency.

While swimming, one of my children spotted something on the seabed and excitedly came back with mussels and clams they'd found themselves! They were absolutely thrilled.
It was a fantastic opportunity for them to experience marine ecology firsthand, without needing to visit a paid tidal flat experience. It created unforgettable and fun memories for the kids.
Smart Tips for Affordable Daybed Rentals

We arrived a bit late, around 2:00 PM. Initially, the daybeds along the road were quoted at ~$35 and parasols at ~$17.

Since we only planned to stay for an hour or two, we hesitated. I politely asked the owner if there was any flexibility, and they kindly offered us a daybed for ~$14.

If you're visiting after 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, I subtly suggest trying to negotiate for a more reasonable price based on the remaining time. It worked for us!
Essential Tips Before You Go
Packing Checklist
Aqua shoes
Change of clothes
Towels
Waterproof phone pouch
Sand play toys
Snorkeling gear or goggles

Beach sand in the summer can be surprisingly hot, and there might be small stones or shells on the seabed. Aqua shoes are an absolute must for comfortable and safe exploration!
Parking & Getting Around Tips
There's a designated parking area near the entrance of the beach. However, during peak weekend hours, it can get quite busy. We recommend arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon for easier parking.

Many guesthouses along the road leading to the beach also offer parking spaces if you rent a daybed or parasol from them.
Global Explorer's Takeaway
This time, due to our schedule, we only had a short 2-3 hours to enjoy the beach, which left us wishing for more. However, the shallow, safe waters and impeccable water quality made a strong impression.
Next summer, we're definitely planning to book a nearby guesthouse or hotel and spend several relaxing days here. It's truly a place worth revisiting!

If you're searching for a fantastic family-friendly beach destination in Pohang, we wholeheartedly recommend Guryongpo Beach.
