Gunsan is only a **2.5-hour bus ride from Seoul**.
This makes it perfect for a day trip,
and with its main attractions clustered together, it's also ideal for **exploring on foot**.
**What's more**, it boasts many fantastic restaurants and a wonderful atmosphere,
making it, in my opinion, one of the best domestic travel destinations I've visited recently!
With that in mind, I've compiled a list of only my personally vetted (and paid for!) restaurants and must-see sights
to create a **Gunsan Day Trip Itinerary for Walkers**.
For a day trip, especially one on foot, **the flow of your route is paramount**.
I've organized the places I visited on this Gunsan trip
into a **customized day trip itinerary** for pedestrian travelers.
The schedule is designed for arriving at lunchtime and departing after dinner,
ensuring a smooth and manageable flow without feeling rushed.
For your information, Gunsan's bus terminal is
closer to the city center than the train station, so I recommend taking the bus.

Famous for Spicy Jjajangmyeon and Spicy Jjamppong
10-minute bus ride from Gunsan Bus Terminal

Gunsan Jiriseong gained fame after appearing on "Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan."
It's known as a spicy jjamppong spot, but personally, **I recommend the spicy jjajangmyeon**!
However, **it's not open in the evening**, so if you plan to visit Jiriseong, make sure to go for lunch.
Among the places I'll introduce, it's **the closest to Gunsan Bus Terminal**,
making it the perfect spot for lunch!
📌 Hanilok
Famous for Beef Radish Soup and Yukhoe Bibimbap (Beef Tartare Bibimbap)
Directly opposite Chorwon Photo Studio, 5-minute walk from Lee Sung Dang Bakery

Hanilok is renowned for its **Beef Radish Soup and Yukhoe Bibimbap**.
Located **directly opposite Chorwon Photo Studio and just a 5-minute walk from Lee Sung Dang Bakery**,
it's a perfect spot to grab a meal when you're hungry after exploring the area.
(Please note: Yukhoe Bibimbap is only available on weekdays.)
You might think, "What's so special about beef radish soup?"
But Hanilok's beef radish soup is undeniably light and clean-tasting,
making it a worthwhile visit for anyone who **enjoys Korean food**!
📌 Lee Sung Dang Bakery
Gunsan's answer to Sungsimdang (it's also a cafe!)
Famous for its red bean bread, vegetable bread, and cakes.
Just a 5-minute walk from Hanilok.
Meet Gunsan's Iseongdang, a bakery so incredibly famous, it's often compared to the legendary Sungsimdang in Daejeon.
It opens at 8 AM, but trust me, a queue forms almost instantly – that's how popular it is!
Just a heads-up: their famous **red bean bread and vegetable bread often have a separate queue**, so be prepared!
I hear their **cakes are also quite famous**,
and even though I haven't tried them myself, just looking at them, you can tell why they're so renowned.
Since it's only a **5-minute walk from Hanilok**, I recommend grabbing some bread from Iseongdang first, then heading to Hanilok for dinner,
and enjoying your delicious treats as dessert on your way back!

📌 **Seafood Pocha Yeonghwa-dong Branch 1**
A must-try for seafood clam stew and grilled jumbo shrimp.
Portions are incredibly generous!
Highly recommend adding udon or ramyeon noodles.
If you're looking for something more exciting than just beef radish soup during your trip, I highly recommend Haemul Pocha Yeonghwa-dong Branch 1!
We ordered the **seafood clam stew and grilled jumbo shrimp** set, and let me tell you,
we got to enjoy **the biggest shrimp and mussels I've ever had in my entire life**!
The portions are incredibly generous,
but you absolutely *must* add noodles at the end to soak up all that delicious broth.
With abundant seafood and fresh vegetables, the **broth is absolutely out of this world**.

A hillside village where war refugees once settled.
Offers makgeolli making, and modern history cultural experiences.
Duration: 30 minutes to 1 hour / Free admission.
Mallang-i Village, whose name literally means 'mountainside',
is a fascinating place that has been developed into a tourist attraction, highlighting **where war refugees once gathered to live**.
It beautifully recreates the look and feel of Korea during its modernization period,
and even offers fun activities like a **makgeolli experience and magic shows**!
Being on a hillside, it offers a fantastic panoramic view of Gunsan,
and with charming murals scattered throughout, it's a **perfect spot for snapping photos and exploring**.
📌 Shinhung-dong Japanese House
A grand mansion that once belonged to a Japanese landlord
Step inside and feel transported to Japan, completely detached from the outside world.
Allow about 30 minutes / Admission: Free!
Just a short stroll from Mallang-yi Village, you'll find
the magnificent residence of Hirotsu, a prominent Japanese landlord during Gunsan's Japanese colonial period.
It offers a poignant glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of Japanese residents in Joseon at that time.
As you wander through the exquisite Japanese garden,
you'll find yourself feeling like you've been transported straight to Japan.
And since admission is free, it's an absolute must-visit if you're exploring Gunsan!
📌 Dalbit Jeomppang (Moonlight Store)
Conveniently located on the walk from the Japanese House to Chorwon Photo Studio.
A delightful little souvenir shop.
Allow about 30 minutes.
A fun part of any trip is picking up a little keepsake,
and as you stroll from the Japanese House towards Chorwon Photo Studio,
you'll discover Dalbit Jeomppang, an absolutely adorable souvenir shop.
You can find postcards from the beloved movie <Christmas in August> here,
and a fantastic array of charming magnets. I even ended up buying one myself!
📌 Chorwon Photo Studio

While the interior might be simple, it's a quintessential Gunsan photo spot.
Allow about 20 minutes / Admission: Free!
While the interior might not offer extensive sights,
it's one of Gunsan's most iconic filming locations,
and Chorwon Photo Studio itself is truly a photo spot worth capturing.
If you enjoyed the movie, it's definitely worth a visit,
and even if you haven't seen it, it's a charming place for a quick stop :)
Hanilok is right across the street, so why not visit both!
Beyond these spots, Gunsan boasts countless other attractions and incredible eateries,
