Many of you planning a trip to Beijing will likely be visiting the nearby Gubei Water Town.
I also visited through a day tour to Gubei Water Town, starting from Beijing.
Today, I want to introduce you to a fantastic spot, Jingsheng Inn (倾城客栈), which I highly recommend for anyone in Gubei Water Town looking to savor authentic Chinese home-style cuisine!
Jingsheng Inn (倾城客栈) is one of the guesthouses in Gubei Water Town, and it also operates a restaurant.
You'll find it near the foot bath in the middle of the village, on the way to the Simatai Great Wall cable car.

At the entrance of Jingsheng Inn, mouth-watering photos of delicious dishes immediately made me want to step inside.
Once inside, I was surprised to find a modern-feeling hallway, quite different from the traditional exterior.
What I didn't realize from the entrance was that Jingsheng Inn also boasts a wonderful view!
With a canal flowing right outside the restaurant, it was perfect for enjoying the scenery while dining.
The restaurant interior wasn't huge, but it could accommodate around 20 people at once.
And as it's also a guesthouse, the interior decor and furniture gave off a cozy, home-like vibe.

Jingsheng Inn's menu boasts many Chinese home-style dishes that particularly cater well to Korean tastes.
The dishes I've listed above were recommended by our day tour guide, so keep them in mind when you order!

📍 What We Ordered
Dongpo Pork 78 yuan
Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork 48 yuan
Steamed Rice 2 yuan
Coca-Cola 5 yuan
Since we were also planning to grab some snacks, the three of us only ordered the
Dongpo Pork, Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork, two servings of steamed rice,
and a Coca-Cola.
As a side note, tea is served automatically,
and it was quite delicious!
First up is the dish we ordered with so much anticipation: the Dongpo Pork.
It was priced at 78 yuan, or about ~$11,
which I thought was a pretty good deal considering the generous portion!
The amount of meat was much more than I expected,
so it would have been quite a challenge to finish it alone!
The Dongpo Pork was the perfect blend of savory and sweet – an absolute 'rice thief'!
The skin was deliciously chewy, giving it a fantastic texture even with the fatty bits.
Meanwhile, the lean meat was incredibly tender,
making it a dish I truly savored.
Just a heads-up, it can be a little on the salty side, so be sure to enjoy it with plenty of rice!
Next up is the Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork.
Honestly, there was only a small amount of pork, with about
95% of the dish being green beans.
This was a dish I hadn't encountered in Korea,
so I decided to give it a try.
And I'm so glad I did—it turned out to be a truly satisfying side dish for rice!
It had a slight kick from the chili peppers, but that only
enhanced its savory umami flavor, making it absolutely perfect to enjoy with rice.
The green beans had a lovely texture, and the seasoning was absorbed perfectly,
making this dish another 'rice thief' hit!
For anyone wondering what to order, I highly recommend this vegetable dish—it's sure to be a crowd-pleaser for most palates!
Both dishes we ordered paired incredibly well with steamed rice.
If you're a rice lover,
you'll likely find yourself scraping the bowl clean!
If you're searching for a fantastic restaurant in Beijing's nearby Gubei Water Town,
I highly recommend Jingcheng Inn Restaurant.
Not only does the restaurant boast wonderful views,
but the staff were also incredibly kind and attentive,
making the overall experience beyond just the food truly satisfying.
And most importantly, there are many dishes that are incredibly appealing to a wide range of palates,
so if you stick to their recommended menu,
you really can't go wrong!
Specifically, the combination of Dongpo Pork and Stir-fried Green Beans that I ordered
was absolutely delicious, so definitely keep that in mind!
