This is a review of our visit to the
Gokseong World Rose Festival, held at Seomjingang Train Village in Gokseong,
with my family last Sunday evening.
Expecting crowds on a weekend,
we set off late Sunday afternoon.
This was our second visit to Seomjingang Train Village,
where the Gokseong World Rose Festival takes place.
Our first visit was on a weekday for a company outing,
and this time, we arrived with family for a delightful weekend evening.
During its run from May 20th to 29th,
the Gokseong Rose Festival extends its operating hours
until **10 PM**.
However, please note that you must purchase tickets and enter **before 8 PM**.
You won't be able to enter after 8 PM.

After purchasing tickets at the Central Ticket Office,
you'll enter through the old Gokseong Station entrance.
Upon entering, the first thing you'll see is
this tower, which serves as a popular photo zone.
Everyone lines up here to capture their memories!

Walk past the tower and a little further in,
and you'll arrive at the Central Plaza.
This is typically where various performances
and events take place.
Rose Garden Exploration
This is the Rose Garden within Seomjingang Train Village,
where the Gokseong World Rose Festival is in full bloom.
At the entrance to the Rose Garden, one of the members of the duo SuwaJin
was singing.
The roses, viewed against the sunset sky,
are even more breathtakingly beautiful.

There were also many varieties of roses with truly enormous blooms.
This spot is a fantastic photo zone, perfect for snapping some memorable pictures!
Looking at it from the back, I initially thought it was a giant bouquet,
but from the front, it turned out to be... hair! What a fun surprise!
Our sunset stroll among the roses ends here,
because, as the saying goes, 'even the most breathtaking views are best enjoyed on a full stomach!'
So, it was time to grab some snacks for the kids,
and off we went, heading straight for the food trucks!
Gokseong World Rose Festival Food Trucks
From the Rose Park, heading towards the back gate ticket office,
a lively array of food trucks were open for business.
Our eldest son picked Takoyaki and fried ice cream – delicious choices!
Our second child went for Colpop – a fun combo of popcorn chicken and cola!
And Dad? He couldn't resist some refreshing ice cream!

we made our way back into the park.
The Wishing Drum Experience
This was the place where people would line up
to make their wishes.
As the stunning sunset began to fade, the evening lights
started to twinkle on, one by one.
The night lights of the Gokseong World Rose Festival
have all come on.
Personally, I found there was
quite a bit left to be desired.
The lighting was, how should I put it,
it didn't really make the roses stand out;
it was just enough to show them,
which was a bit disappointing.
This past week, I had the pleasure of enjoying the Gokseong World Rose Festival twice – once with colleagues and once with my family.
This coming Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are likely to be the peak days.
Personally, I found that going around evening to admire the roses at sunset
and then enjoying the festival with its night lights
was a wonderful schedule.
The festival ran for 10 days, from Saturday, May 20, to Monday, May 29, 2023. The venue was Seomjingang Train Village in Gokseong.
While the festival operates until 10 PM during its extended hours, ticketing and entry must be completed before 8 PM. Entry is not possible after 8 PM.
On Saturday, May 27th, the 'Rose Trot Legend Show' was held at the Central Plaza. Singers such as Choi Yu-na, Park Hye-sin, Ha Dong-jin, and Lee Chan-won performed.
The Rose Garden exhibits 1,004 varieties of roses. Among them, there were several types of roses with flowers larger than a child's hand.
Several food trucks operate in the Rose Garden, heading towards the back gate ticket office. They sold items such as takoyaki, fried ice cream, Coke-pop (Coke and popcorn), ice cream, and corn.
