Kitahama Dessert Cafe
The Ambiance Inside Gokan

While Gokan might not boast the hyper-trendy vibe you often see on social media, its charm lies in its deeply elegant and classic atmosphere, hinting at a rich history.
During my visit, I saw several elderly couples and a steady stream of local Japanese patrons, giving it the unmistakable feel of a true local dessert hotspot. This isn't a fleeting trend; it's a patisserie with enduring appeal.
Beyond individual cakes, they offer a wide array of exquisite sweets and bakery gift sets. These would make truly sophisticated souvenirs!

The staff here are numerous, and interestingly, the uniforms for the 1st and 2nd floors are different. (The 2nd-floor staff wear very formal suits, adding to the refined atmosphere.)
Discover Your Dream Dessert at Gokan Kitahama
Gokan's most popular menu item is the Mont Blanc, and their affordable cream puffs are also a big hit.

Please note that the prices in some of these older photos might not reflect current 2026 pricing, as my photo archive goes back a few years! Haha.

Even so, looking back, the dessert prices felt incredibly reasonable for the quality.
While drink prices were a bit on the higher side, considering the exceptional quality of the desserts, they offered fantastic value.

They also have delicious roll cakes available.

The whole cake prices were also wonderfully appealing back then, though I'm not sure what they are currently. My apologies!

They also have gorgeous gift sets, the kind you might find in an airport duty-free shop!
Gokan Kitahama's Second-Floor Cafe
If you're looking to enjoy your cake on-site rather than just taking it to go, simply head upstairs to the second floor and a staff member will guide you to your table.

My advice? Skip the French toast and go straight for the cakes! While the drink prices were a bit steep even back then, and the quality wasn't exceptional, I'd recommend sticking to a simple iced coffee or tea.

Can you feel the classic elegance of Gokan?

The dessert lineup on the first-floor showcase is simply stunning. Just point to the cake you want as the staff bring a tray full of options. Easy peasy, right?☺️

This iced organic coffee looks rich, but honestly, the drinks are nothing to write home about. Just close your eyes and enjoy the cake!

I enjoyed the Mont Blanc...

It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, and the small complimentary dessert was a lovely bonus.
Experience the kind of welcome that makes you feel like royalty at Gokan, Kitahama's renowned dessert spot!‼️
