Wonder Cruise Reservation & Night View Experience Review

When Osaka comes to mind, the most famous area is,
without a doubt, Dotonbori, in my opinion.
The Dotonbori River flows right through the heart of Dotonbori,
and along both sides of its banks, you'll find a dazzling array of neon signs and food stalls.
It’s a truly vibrant and entertaining street that’s a joy to behold,
making it an absolute must-visit whenever you’re in Osaka.
But here's a secret: there's an amazing attraction where you can cruise along this very river
and soak in the stunning night views!
Today, I’m excited to share with you how to book the Dotonbori Wonder Cruise
and my personal review of experiencing it during the magical night view hours!
First things first, let me walk you through
how to book your Dotonbori Wonder Cruise adventure!
The link above leads to the official booking site for the Dotonbori Wonder Cruise,
so head over there first to get started!
Once you're there, a calendar like the one in the photo will pop up.
Go ahead and select your desired cruising date!
Next, on your chosen date, check the available times and remaining seats,
then simply click to select your preferred slot.
Currently, the Wonder Cruise operates roughly every 30 minutes,
from 12:00 PM all the way until 9:30 PM.
Just a heads-up: generally, the lunch and daytime slots
tend to be a bit less popular.
However, the night view timings are usually the most sought-after,
so I highly recommend booking those in advance to secure your spot!
After you’ve selected your date and time,
choose the number of people in your party,
then hit 'Next' to move on.
Next up, you'll simply need to input your personal information
to complete your reservation details.
All you need to enter is your full name in English, phone number, email address,
and then confirm your email address – and you're done!
After reviewing everything, simply check 'I have confirmed'
for all the details, then submit your provisional reservation.
Voila! A reservation number will appear, just like in the photo,
and you'll also receive all your booking details via email.
Make sure to take a screenshot of this reservation number
as you'll absolutely need to show it at the on-site reception desk later!
Even if you've booked your tickets online,
you must exchange them on-site.
As it was marked as 'provisional reservation' in the booking window earlier,
the actual payment hasn't been made yet.
You'll need to **exchange your booking for a boarding pass on-site**
**using various payment methods.**
Based on the Wonder Cruise official website,
there are 7 methods available for payment/exchange.
You can **exchange your booking using various methods**, including
📍Osaka Amazing Pass, ePass, Kansai Joy Pass, cash/card, and more!
Among these, my recommended method is to
first **purchase a Wonder Cruise exchange voucher in advance.**
❗️If you only plan to use the Wonder Cruise, **purchasing in advance** from the link below is
**approximately ~$0-1 cheaper** than exchanging with cash on-site.
Purchase Osaka Wonder Cruise Tickets
On the other hand, if you plan to visit other attractions in Osaka city,
using various discount passes is much more advantageous.
❗️While passes like the Osaka Amazing Pass and ePass offer great value,
the **Kansai Joy Pass is also a good option**, especially since it currently
has a 1+1 event!
As shown in the picture, simply present the QR code from your Kansai Joy Pass,
and you can exchange it for a ticket immediately.
So, make sure to book in advance using the link below!
Next, I'll share my **experience taking the Wonder Cruise**
**specifically during the night view hours.**
When you arrive at the Wonder Cruise boarding point, you'll see a long queue,
as shown in the picture.
This might not be the boarding line, but rather the ticket exchange line,
so I recommend checking with the counter first.
We boarded the 7:40 PM cruise, just as the night view was beginning to set in,
and since it was after sunset, the boat was almost completely full.
The cruise takes you on a roughly 20-minute loop around the Dotonbori River
and brings you back.
The night view stretching along both sides of the river is truly stunning,
and the sky, with its beautiful blue hues, made it even prettier.
The cruise pauses briefly in front of the Glico Man sign.
Here, **a staff member will take one or two commemorative photos for you.**
Even if you're traveling solo, you can still capture beautiful memories,
so feel free to hop aboard without worries!
Today, I introduced the Wonder Cruise, an experience I highly recommend
for anyone visiting Osaka.
You can **make a provisional reservation in advance, and simply exchange your ticket**
**before boarding**, making it incredibly convenient to use.
(Other river cruises often only allow on-site reservations.)
Though it's a short ride, the night view from the cruise and
the romantic ambiance of Dotonbori will surely enrich your Osaka trip.
💡As a tip, you can either book your tickets separately in advance, or,
Passes like the Kansai Joy Pass or Osaka Amazing Pass
are much more affordable to use, so make sure to grab them in advance!
