Even though we have it in Korea,
I really wanted to experience it in its homeland
since I was already in Taiwan,
so I added it to my itinerary.
The branch I visited was
the Din Tai Fung Xinsheng Branch, near Yongkang Street.
I visited on a Saturday afternoon,
and to cut to the chase, I waited about 50 minutes.
But I learned something after my visit...
There are special meal vouchers for Din Tai Fung
that can help reduce the waiting time.
To save you from waiting unnecessarily like I did,
I'll share everything from the actual waiting time at the Xinsheng branch to the menu,
and useful tips to know before you go.

When you search for Din Tai Fung in Taipei,
several branches pop up, so at first,
I wasn't sure which one to go to.
The most popular branches among travelers are
Taipei 101 Branch and Xinsheng Branch.

Since I was in the Yongkang Street area that day,
I visited the Xinsheng branch.
The time I received my waiting ticket was
2:58 PM on July 26, 2026.
I received a number ticket for 2 people,
and the estimated waiting time on the ticket was
50~70 minutes.
Even though I went around 3 PM,
trying to avoid lunchtime,
I still had to wait for more than 50 minutes.
That's Din Tai Fung for you... haha.
In reality, I waited for about 50 minutes
before getting in.
Still, it was convenient to check the estimated waiting time
as it was displayed in Korean on the ticket,
and they even called out numbers in Korean.
If your travel schedule is tight,
it's a good idea to check the waiting times
before heading straight to the restaurant.

you can check the current waiting times and call numbers for each branch.

Even after getting your number ticket,
you can check which numbers are currently being called,
so you don't have to stand right in front of the restaurant the whole time.
Especially if you're visiting on a weekend or during peak meal times,
I recommend checking beforehand and planning your movements accordingly.
I only found this out after my visit.
It turns out there's a way to visit by purchasing Din Tai Fung set meal vouchers in advance.
This method involves receiving a separate number for entry, apart from the general on-site queue,
so it can really help save time on days with long waits.
However, even if you purchase a meal voucher,
it doesn't guarantee immediate entry without waiting.
Waiting times can still occur depending on the on-site situation.
I went on a Saturday at 3 PM,
and actually waited for about 50 minutes...
If I had known this beforehand, I probably would have
at least compared prices. Haha.
Especially if you're traveling with parents or children,
or if your Taiwan travel itinerary is packed,

When I visited Din Tai Fung in Taiwan,
one of the things that made it so convenient was
the availability of Korean guidance.
As you can see from the pictures, even the waiting ticket
was completely in Korean!
With estimated waiting times and important notices all clearly written,
it wasn't difficult at all, even without knowing Chinese.
Ordering was also a breeze – I just scanned a QR code
and could place my order in Korean.
So, for anyone who finds ordering at overseas restaurants a bit daunting,
this makes it incredibly easy and stress-free to enjoy.
The dishes I ordered that day were:
Xiaolongbao, Shrimp Fried Rice,
and Siu Mai.
Din Tai Fung has so many menu options that
it's easy to feel overwhelmed when you visit for the first time.
I really wanted to try something new, something different from what I usually eat in Korea,
but then I ended up ordering my usual favorites
again! Hahaha.
Xiaolongbao
If you come to Din Tai Fung,
this is one dish you absolutely cannot miss.
Xiaolongbao!
Packed with savory broth inside its delicate skin,
you have to be careful from the moment you pick it up with your chopsticks.
Place the Xiaolongbao on your spoon,
gently break the skin to savor the delicious broth first,
then top it with some ginger strips dipped in soy sauce and enjoy.
Even though I've had this dish in Korea,
eating it here in Taiwan
just hits different, you know?
If it's your first time visiting,
I highly recommend ordering this as a staple.
Shrimp and Pork Siu Mai
Just looking at the picture, you can see those generous shrimp, right?
It's topped with plump, whole shrimp
and filled with flavorful pork inside.
It offers a different texture compared to Xiaolongbao,
so if you're looking to try a variety of dim sum,
it's a great choice to order alongside.
Highly recommended if you love shrimp!
Shrimp and Egg Fried Rice
And personally,
a dish I'd recommend just as much as Xiaolongbao is
the Shrimp and Egg Fried Rice.
The rice grains are perfectly cooked – not sticky, but light and fluffy,
and with egg and shrimp, it's wonderfully savory yet clean-tasting.
It's not overly seasoned either,
making it a fantastic accompaniment to dim sum.
Spicy Wontons (Hongyou Chaoshou)
On the menu, it was listed in Korean as
Spicy Wontons,
I was curious, so I ordered it.
In Taiwan, this dish is called Hong You Chao Shou (紅油抄手),
and it's a dish where dumplings are served
with a spicy chili oil sauce.
The sauce was stronger than I expected,
so honestly, this wasn't quite my cup of tea.
It wasn't inedible,
but the Xiaolongbao and fried rice were much more delicious,
so if I go again, I'd probably order something else.

I still waited for about 50 minutes,
which really showed me just how popular Din Tai Fung is!

and the food was generally satisfying.

absolute must-reorders!
